Host Cornwall Wins Again 6-1 Over Weeks PictouMay 7 2008 at 1:00 AM | SMC57 (Login SMC57) Registered Members |
| - The Cornwall Colts continue to win after losing their 1st game to the Humboldt Broncos 7-0. The Colts defeated the Pictou Weeks team tonight 6-1 to improve their record to 2-1 and a share of 1st place temporarily, with the Camrose Kodiaks.
For a team that was not given any great chance of winning here, they are giving a pretty good account of themselves. You never know, it could be another case of the host team performing well enough to make the finals and possibly win it all as Weyburn did a few years back or get to the final as Prince George did last year.
The Colts have only 1 game left to play against the powerful undefeated Kodiaks who will be tough. No matter what happens aginst the Kodiaks, the Colts can do no worse than a 2-2 record, which should give them a crack at the semi final.
A must win for the Blades tomorrow afternoon when they cross sticks with the Humboldt Broncos. To have any chance of making the semi, the Blades have to win this one, since the their last game will be against the Kodiaks who in my opinion will go undefeated in the round robin.
Hopefully the Blades have taken advantage of their 1 day off and have solved some of their problems. They will have to play like they did against the Tigers and Waxers from here on in or it will be lights out Thursday.

Blades must win two unless you believe Humboldt will lose to Pictou. With a victory tomorrow the only tie breaker the Blades would own is against the Bronco's

Correct "Matty B".
The Blades have to win 2, but I'm kind of hoping that Pictou upsets Humboldt, probably won't happen, but you know how unpredictable Junior "A" hockey is. Who would have thought that Oakville would be the only winless team at this point, Greenham or no Greenham.
Maybe the Blades will show some spark today and win 1 game at least. I can't see them going winless.
Can't stop thinking that the Tigers and Waxers would have done better at this point, but the Blades earned the right and that's all "water under the bridge". (sigh)

I'm sure it pisses you off just as much as it pisses me off. Many people might call us whiners or complainers, but the fact of the matter is our clubs were defeated by a completely different team then what is on the ice right now.

would have at least one win to this point at the '08 RBC.
I would almost guarantee it.
If you ask me, there is something more missing or something else has gone wrong within the Oakville Blades.
Maybe the players are pissed off because management did not take care of this problem(goalie) when it had the chance.
Go Raptors !
Go Jays !

I agree Wex, there has to be something else wrong with the Blades, it can't just be over the absence of Scott Greenham. They seem to be playing like a ship without a rudder and no intensity at all.
Just as I was typing this thread, the Blades went ahead 3-2 over the Broncos. Maybe something may happen for them today, let's hope so. |

Had a 4-2 lead and all of a sudden it's 5-4 Bronco's.
I never felt that Oakville played with a ton of intensity, so I'm not really seeing that difference. They are a tean that thrive on other teams mistakes and score a bunch of bad goals because they shoot the puck from everywhere.

Big win today. It was not perfect, but it sure is something to build on.
