I am very saddened to tell everyone this but KJ Rammola of the Newmarket Hurricanes, and past player of the Couchiching Terriers, has passed away. i don't know every single details but what i will say at this time is that it is confirmed and that it was a car accident coming home from a weekend at a friends cottage. I played with KJ for only a year and played against him not only in junior but in minor hockey. Not only was he a terriffic two way player and excellent overall hockey player. He was a great guy away from the ice as well this is not only a loss of a great player but of an Unbeleivable guy to be around. I send out my condolences to the Ramolla family our thoughts and prayers are with you!

This is a HUGE loss!!!!

TRAGIC ANNOUNCEMENT
Apietramala 06/29/2008 13:52 PM
It is with deepest regret that we inform you of the sudden passing of K.J. Ramolla. K.J. was involved in a car accident Saturday June 28th that took him from us far too early in life. Our deepest sympathies and prayers are with the Ramolla Family. K.J. was a great player and more importantly a great friend that was loved and respected by his teamates and peers. Our former captain Ryan Burkholder was also involved in the accident and fortunately was not seriously injured.

Please visit our site later today or early tomorrow for service details.

Condolences

June 29 2008, 6:36 PM

My condolences to the Ramolla family for their loss.

Also, I was asked to post this on behalf of Mark Cornacchia.

I'd like to send my condolences to the Rammolla family. K.J. was killed was night in a car accident coming back from Muskoka with his friends. I happened to know K.J. from playing on summer teams with him and more recently playing with him in the Team Canada East camp. He was a fun loving guy off the ice who could always make you laugh with his one liners. You wouldn't know it if you played against him, because he was one of the most intense competitors in the league. He hated losing, and played that way every shift. I loved lining up on draws against him, as we'd always crack a joke right before the puck drop. His inner drive to win was contagious, and I only tried to match his energy and effort he gave for his team. K.J. was the type that would never back down from any challenge he faced, and was always there to come to the aid of his teammates, friends, and family.

It's a tragedy to have K.J. taken from us far too soon, and I only hope all my fellow OPJHL players past and present, regardless of allegiances, come together to support the Rammolla family in their time of need.

R.I.P. KJ,

Mark Cornacchia

loss of a child-K.J. Ramolla

June 30 2008, 1:51 AM

Any time a parent out lives his or her children we are left to wonder what is God's intent. He has summoned an outstanding gentleman, team-mate and a son to play center for God's team. It's funny, I am in no way religious but I feel a need to pray for K.J. that he did not suffer, for Ryan that we will be able to help him through this, the darkest time of his young life, and for K.J.'s parents. I love my son with all my heart and I could not bear to lose him as the Ramolla's have. They will need our support to get through this event that will change so many lives in a single instant.
The Hurricane organization will close ranks to aid in the healing process. Our players are like our sons and we will grieve not for ourselves, but for those that have lost so much. Once again, life has put hockey in perspective. I sit here with tears in my eyes not for my loss but for the loss of the parents and families of those involved in this tragic accident.
May you rest well K.J.

Hockey is but a game!
