My concern here would be that Cardinal Sports is looking for a few thousand bucks form the parents to profile and sell their kid. Most that have any talent don't need their help and can save the $ for education.

I dont know how this information is being obtained but if true the Golden Hawks are obtaining some maturity for what should be a young squad overall

I truely believe that by this time parents are able to make those decisions having probably seen and heard alot. However there are always exceptions to the rule.
Hopefully common sense will prevail and the parents of these boys will wait before making any knee jerk decisions(aka being forced to make a quick decsision based on time or the window closes).

Dukester,

Curious statement regarding the Cardinal group and the fee's paid to represent players? On the surface a valid point, however, one of the corner stones of the Central Division mantra is that Cardinal is there to promote players from the CD. By the time a kid is at junior age I can't see a parent feeling a couple thousand for representation is outrageous, expensive but not outrageous. So if you could help me out and follow the link posted below and then point out exactly what players have wasted their parents money ( because it was the parents that payed? right (?) ). The vast majority of the players listed are at the top of the heap as far as talent is concerned in this league and would need little help in going on to the next level. Can we assume that their getting some poor direction from their parents or is it coming from some where else?

I followed that link and got a Dukes stat page. Impressive as that is I don't think most talented players require a sports agency to find themselves something. Spending a couple of thousand to get the attention of a team that in most instances is already aware. Just my experience on this issue.

The Central Division has also inked an educational deal with Cardinal Sports Management, allowing all Central Division players access to the company's services.

The trenton team will not be a young team. tim clayden and the trenton owners like older veteran players and will have the maximum number of 20 year olds on the team.management in trenton want to win .

Good for Trenton, they want to win as it should be.

Good luck Golden Hawks in your 1st year in the Ontario Conference, "the Conference that wants to produce winners".

As opposed to a conference that can both produce winners and develop and promote players to another level. Hard to knock that option. LOL

And you might want to add "committment" to that,as in an organization committed to putting a talented product on the ice. That has been sadly lacking and is essential.

The Commitment has been signed off on as everyone knows(no need to repeat it). The management of the Golden Hawks are very good and knowledgable people who have a deep understanding of the Jr. A game and a strong desire to be successful, thats good enough for me.

Lets give them some breathing space to enjoy their summer as they also prepare for the work ahead.

WOODSTOCK, NB, June 29, 2009 - The Woodstock Slammers bolstered their lineup for the 2009-10 season by acquiring a number of new additions over the past week the Maritime Junior A Hockey League team has announced.

The Slammers also announced the commitment to the team of forward Lucas McKinley who spent spent three seasons with the PEI Rocket of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League.

Eighteen year-old forward Dylan Fitzpatrick has also committed to playing with the Slammers for the upcoming season. Fitzpatrick was a standout for the Brewer Witches in Maine state high school play.

Twenty year-old goaltender Andre Guay of Moncton has also committed to the Slammers for the fall. The Slammers acquired Guay's MJAHL list rights from the Dieppe Commandos as part as the Andrew Langan trade last season.

In 16 games with Trenton Best recorded 8 goals and 13 assists. Prior to Trenton Best recorded 16 goals and 23 assists with the Yarmouth Mariners.

"We definitley added some offence today to our line-up with Michael Best. We feel we have strengthened our hockey club with his addition" stated Head Coach Jason Tatarnic.

In Baldwin the Slammers receive a 61 power forward that was a first round pick for the Campbellton Tigers in 2007. In 45 games with Trenton Baldwin recorded 3 goals and 10 assists. Prior to Trenton Baldwin recorded 6 goals and 3 assists in his rookie year with the Tigers.

"We feel Baldwin can play an offensive role with us. Hes a big body who skates well. We just added two former first round picks to our club" added Tatarnic.

In McKinley the Slammers have added some size at 63 and feel they have added some offense to their line-up.

The Chowder Cup im sure will be a good proving ground for your question and there is still the camp in early august. I do know that Cobourg snapped up a good local talent between the pipes, who played Jr C last year in Picton and to whom i've spoken to before in the column. This is a nice advancement for the hard working and talented Goaltender from Trenton.
