Atlanta took Ed Pasquale in the fourth round from Saginaw. He played for Wellington a few season ago.

add in:

Michael Pelech (St. Michael's 04/05)(6th/156/LAK)
Kyle Neuber (St. Michael's 06/07) (7th/197/CBJ)

Keeping tabs:

The 04/05 and 06/07 St. Michael's Buzzers squads now each have three players drafted to the NHL. (04/05: Cogliano, Halischuk, Pelech) (06/07: Caporusso, B. Smith, Neuber).

Five Years, Six Players:

In the last five NHL Entry Drafts the Buzzers have had six players drafted to the NHL directly from Junior A (Cogliano, Caporusso, B. Smith, Burlon, D'Agostino, R. Smith)

I was right!

I predicted here months ago that Reilly Smith would go much lower in the draft. He was so strong in the playoffs ... way too significant an impact for an 'average' player. Damn! Only one full year with the Buzzers and then he disappears! (off to the NCAA)

The Buzz have about 7 players returning this year ... and with all the turmoil in this organization I don't have a lot of hope for the coming year. And with all the friends of friends running the organisation ... my bet isn't on the Buzz having a strong team.

I had the priviledge of watching this tall lanky youngster become one of the Vees' major cogs in their championship run after coming over from Trenton.

He did it quietly and with efficiency when many others and rightly so, got much of the press (Higgs, Sirman, Harrington, Chabot, Christmas and Hill).

There were some naysayers as there always are when Walsh came to the Vees after the proud Trenton franchise folded.

But those in Trenton who watched him knew he was special too.

I saw him work on his game, adapt to the play and have a terrific playoff in getting a championship on his resume which is something few guys have to bolster their value.

He looks weak on his skates but has tremendous balance and a knack for finding open ice that was most impressive.

I remember this #7 in Trenton when they played against the Vees and I was always impressed at his quiet efficiency.

I could not be happier for the Vees' #8, Dustin Walsh and wish him all the best.
