Sunday Aug 16. At the AMC plaza, Thickson and Hwy 401 I will assume the store opens at 11 but possibly 12. Its just a soft opening with the Grand Opening deals etc probably not happening till the end of the week.

According to the local paper (oshawa This-Week), the store is due to open on August 20, not the 16th.

Wayne the official grand opening is the 20th, with all the deals and sale items...they have a few NHL players going to be there signing items for customers along with the traditional grand opening deals on gear and accessories, etc....

Lol, Play It Again is great if you like to be fit wrong and have some of the worst sharpenings in the Durham Region. Has anyone been to the new store? Is it nice?

I was at the store last week while they were setting up. It's true they have mostly upper middle to high end gear and accessories, but the knowledge base in the staff is where they excel. You aren't dealing with minimum wage staff who need to know a dangerous little about 5-6 sports, yu have people who have played the game at a reasonable level (AAA and in some cases Jr), and they only need to know one sport and for them it's a sport they have had better than average success in. Bottom line is it's still retail but the upper end of knowledge scale. They also have a team program as well, similar to what Source for Sports offers. They also have a sampling of signed memorabelia. Just my humble 2 cents worth.

That's great - "and they only need to know one sport" - they must be on the honor role. FYI, half the staff at PIAS has either played Jr. OR are currently playing Jr. OR have left for school because they are on a DIV 1 scholarship in a different sport. I believe the owner played on a DIV 1 scholly, OHL (when you could play and then get a scholly), Europe, AHL and a cup of coffee in the NHL - me thinks his hockey knowledge is pretty good. Just another 2 cents worth.

With all due respect, WF Puck, because I don't know who you are in order to specifically compare knowledge here; I DO know who DP is, and when it comes to sports equipment, his two cents is generally worth about $2,000 from just about anybody else.

DP, would you mind firing me off an e-mail, please? I thought I had your e-mail, but I can't find it in any of my contact lists.

Thanks, buddy!
