It gives me no pleasure in doing this, but fair is fair. For some reason certain parties are ignoring this concern.
What is happening in Kingston ?
I am hearing things in relation to Wayne's post about "Building a Winner".
This is going to be another black eye for us here in Ontario.
I hope the truth is found out and it turns out to be nothing.
Wayne have you got any information on this ?

I believe the NCAA will soon be making the 15 team Onatrio Jr league untouchable like the CHL because they will view it as professional. A prime reason why the CCHL has built a program on player develpoment that meets all criterias for advancement and no player put at risk.
Here we have a legitimate story, but the usual suspects are absent.
What I have heard is ... and this is just what I heard before I read it on The Cage(when I read it on that forum it kind of told me it may have some truth), ... that Kingston ... oh how should I put this ... is in a spot where it is important enough that the league office is talking to them.
I hate this, ga-damn hate it.
Just follow the damn rules and everything would be fine !

No you don't. You might; but at this point, even as you say, its only what you HEARD,
that means it is nothing but a rumour.
If and when something comes about then you have a story, but until then, it is just hearsay.
I could say the typical "Funny this is coming from a Wellington fan" Wellington response spun from a Kingston point of view on Dukester's post.
Thats all we heard around here for years, was that Kingston was jealous of Wellington and this and that.
hmmm, have the tables flipped???whose the jealous one now......I guess the Duke fans are upset about not being on the top of the mountain anymore.
Oh and here's another classic Dukester line:
"lets wait for all the facts to come out and you'll see that there is nothing to this rumour"
funny how those things can work against you now eh Dukester.....haha
Hey Wexdog,
Do you find the sandboxes are getting bigger and bigger with all the tit for tat?
Maybe the forum rule should be, if you are going to accuse someone, some organization, and you are prepared to back it up, you have to put your real name. Opinion is one thing, accusing is another.
Sorry difference between opinion and accusation.
Opinion is high scoring means the teams are playing pond hockey.
Accusation is the Buzzers are charging a fee or Kingston is paying their players and both are breaking the rules.
Oh please Dukester, because of Kingston's recent success and the fact that the owners have deep pockets, it's assumed that they must be paying players, you know the same "crap" that the Tigers have been accused of for years. Stop patronizing evryone.
With Wellington's success over the years, I wonder how many of their players were being paid by MA and company.
Oh, bite my tongue, with MA's upstanding past record, how could that possibly happen, he said as he rolled his eyes.
I have one clue, the Dukes didn't rack up their impressive win record in the East without paying some players that's for sure and all you Duke fans know it.
Dukestar ...You must remeber ?? Played for the dukes three years ago and as a 16 year old went third ovrall but didnt pan out in the ohl .. well didn't he come back as a 20 year old to wellingston and a- did not go to school and b- didnt work ...
well he had a job ... dukestar we know the days when u had into the program are gone, and during those times u guys had some good years but please sir step up and tell us what u know give us some facts !! put it out there please ... hey are u still scouting too ??

ive said it before and ill say it again .AS FOR THE WELLINGTON DUKES.
the finacial structure as well as the the statice of this nonprofit organization will not or has ever permitted the paying of players in this hockey organization.
drop it .
you people and you smc whatever your name is have no clue.
its the fans of this team that have made this team what it is .
without their attendance there would be no jr hockey in wellington.
"its the fans of this team that have made this team what it is .
without their attendance there would be no jr hockey in wellington."
I agree wholeheartedly with the above statement, Wellington, like any junior franchise relies on their fans for support, both in the stands and at the bank. I was curious how much those fans "attendance" has garnered the Dukes since, Oh, lets say pointstreak started keeping stats. Since this time the dukes regular season attendance has been 42444 and their playoff attendance has been 18407. I calculated that with an average ticket cost of $10.00 for regular season and $15.00 for playoffs the total dollar amount brought in from "attendance" was $695145.00. That's $173786.25 per season, from attendance, to run that team. Now I know that there are sponsors, advertisement and philanthropic supporters, reputation and top notch coaching to help out, but can $173786.25 really buy this much success?
Sure a team makes some income from ticket sales, but also take into account how much rink costs are. Wellington practices a lot. I have been through Wellington on many week nights and seen a ton of cars parked outside the Dukes dressing room. So say they practice 2 times a week and have a game once a week. So the Dukes have to rent the ice 3 times, at the very least, a week.
After ice expenses, the Dukes have to pay for transportation. The league isn't picking up the bus bill for any team. So we'll say 25 road games just for the sake of arguement. How much money is it going to cost for a bus to all the road games. After that, I am guessing that the coaching staff is paid as well.
This is just the Dukes who have these expenses but every team in the league. Sure you're number make it seem like the Dukes have a lot of money on their hands, but in theory, like most teams, just breaking even is not an easy accomplishment. Why do you think so many teams have to fold or change owners? No one likes losing money.
Championships or not, the Dukes organization prides itself on getting players to the next level. They have a proven track record of doing that. Teams like St Mikes, Wellington, Markham and Bowmanville have been doing this for years and they continue to attract the best players because of the teams have proven that these are places to go to get to the next step.
So when you start throwing out numbers, really think about what you are talking about. Sure the figures look all good and dandy, but theres a lot of expenses in running any Tier II junior a hockey team in this country!
Funny now that the Cobourg/Port Hope feud is over and the mud slinging has stopped with those two ownerships. And the poop now is being tossed the Kingston way, is the common denominator the Trenton ownership group? Humm I wonder?
