The key to Wellington's success

The East's CCHL's Wellington Dukes are 2nd in the East after having won 5 of 6 games thus far. Part of their perennial success has always been their team discipline.

How about this?

They have amassed just 63 minutes in penalties in 6 games. And that impressive total has netted them 11 points thus far.

I have always marvelled at their team discipline and it continues to be a trademark staple of their daily diet.

The Dixie Beehives are closest to them in terms of miserly minutes in the penalty box. But, it has not translated into success for them. They have a paltry 4 points after 6 games and stand 9th of 10 in the West. They have 80 PIMS.

The Dukes just keep doing it every single year. I cannot help but think the coaching philosophy and the type of players they recruit have much to do with it.

Good for them.
