Do not look now but Sudbury native Craig Laliberte leads the team in game winning goals with 2 in 7 games played. That matches his output in GWG last year when he potted a pair in the 37 games he played.

And he leads a team which has a lot of higher profile guys on its' roster with important goals for his team.

He's a smooth skating youngster who, if he stays healthy, could be an important cog in the Voyageur juggernaut this year.

What I like about #15 is his awareness at both ends of the ice. If he plays his game simply, getting the puck deep into the zone and getting it out of his own zone, he is the type of player you can never have enough of.

He is also an important penalty killer on this team playing on the 2nd unit of forwards behind Levac and Burton ever since the last season injury to Cole Weedmark.

He is a proven winner not only as a contributor to the Vees' success last year but won a midget all Canadian championship as a midget. Sudbury fellow native young goalkeeper Landon Noel also won a midget Canadian championship. So they must be doing something right in Sudbury when it comes to developing young players.

"Lolly" , as he's affectionately called by his team mates, is one of my favourite Vees' forwards and I always enjoy the chance to chat with him when he is available. He is a delightful young man.

No he is not one of the higher profile guys with OHL experience. But he is serving notice that he intends to be among the Vees' top six forwards this year.

He is already is one of them in my books.

Stay tuned.
