After looking at the Dukes-Ajax game result, I went and looked a little further into Wellingtons season and found that Jordan Ruby has excelled in the shootout battle against the shooters he faces.
So far this season, Ruby has faced 18 shots in the shootout and only allowed 4 goals!
The only team with better numbers is North York who have only allowed 2 goals on 14 shots.
It would seem that the goalies have been winning most of the time in the shootout so far!
Ruby plays the shootouts very well. He stays on his feet, not committing to the shot, which takes away the deke from the shooter. In addition, he challenges the shooter well, coming out just far enough and skating back into the net in such a way as to not give the shooter any net to look at. He's big, and surprisingly quick as well. It all adds up to the shootout success you alluded to.
Just wondering...why not include shootout stats in the players/goalies stats - after all, they are a deciding factor of the game(1-point is up for grabs)...if you going to have it, use it.
