The Grande Prairie Storm have re-acquired goaltender Chad Carder from the Nanaimo Clippers of the BCHL.
In exchange for Carder, the Storm sent forward Derek Ginnell and future considerations to the Clippers.
Carder led the Storm to the AJHL championship last season. He was also named AJHL Top Goaltender, and combined with Matt Milne for the leagues Top Team Goaltenders award.
He was claimed by the Clippers in the off-season, as part of an earlier deal the Storm made with Merritt.
We are excited to bring Chad back into the fold, said Storm GM/Head Coach Mike Vandekamp. He obviously had a tremendous season, and playoff, for us and we are hoping to re-kindle some of that success again this year.
"His spirited attitude and passionate approach to the game will hopefully filter through our dressing room.
With the addition of Carder, Milne will be the odd man out in the Storm crease.
Matt Milne will be moved quickly, likely to a team closer to his home in Ontario, said Vandekamp. Matt has done a fantastic job for our club during his time here, and has been an upstanding citizen and teammate at all times. It is very difficult to see him move on and we wish him success in all future endeavours.
