IMO,Trenton played a great game and I think Oakville didn't expect to have such a hard time. Our goalie, Finney was stellar in net making some beautiful stops. The team played in front of him which really helps. Alot of guys got points which is nice to see. Very entertaining hockey to watch. Crowds getting better. Keep up the good work boys, it is paying off. You guys should be proud. Thanks for bringing some entertaining hockey to our small town. Love our Hawks. Keep up the good work boys

Our goalie make some great saves???? What game were you watching? If it had not been for the guys playing great infront of him......the other team would of run him out of the building.

Regardless of whether or not he made saves or not, clearly it is evident that he played better than the opposing goaltender who allowed 8 goals.

Trenton made Oakville look slow tonight. In fact, the score could have been much worse if referee Scott Lavender allowed Travis White's goal early in the game. Savelli clearly kicked the net off as White was depositing the puck into the cage. In the NHL it would have been ruled a goal, but not in Tier II. That goal would have made it 2-0, instead Oakville came right back a short time later and scored to tie it. It was a big momentum swing. They then took the lead, but the Hawks responded well and chased Savelli, who started training camp with the Hawks, from the game after making it 5-2 in the middle frame, and never looked back.
It was a big win, and the Hawks are now 8-2 in their past 10 games. Finney is now 7-0 on the season, not bad for a kid who was suppose to be the backup goalie. The win also stretches GM Tim Clayden's record behind the bench to 5-0 this season.

It sure was a big win for the surging Golden Hawks. I do not know who was beaming after the game more, me or Tim Clayden. I spoke to Tim after the game.

The quickness of the Trenton forwards was evident early on. Oakville simply could not keep up this night.

I really liked the work of Stibbard, Camilleri, Davies and Foglia. Though pint-sized, they can really motor and have tons of heart.

The big Trenton line of McCarty, Gehl and Stibbard was really good. I was worried that Clayden might have worn them out by playing them too much.

It worked out but what if the score had been tied midway through the third and those guys were out of gas?

Non believers can say all they want about the Blades not getting goal tending tonight but the Hawks were full value for the win tonight. They just proved, once again, that they can play with the big dogs. All they have to do is focus on beating the teams behind them in the standings.

Make no mistake about it, folks; this team will make the playoffs and make some noise. They are well on their way. Trenton.

Great to see forum friends 09ahwks , thekid1987 , csspostal and his entourage and Hawk fan regular, Rob.

In fact there was one astute observation by Rob about the Trenton defence.

Though small, you do not have to be big to get body position on opposing forwards around the net. It is termed "boxing him out" .

Trenton needs to do a better job of that.

I have a feeling TC is not done tinkering. He needs a little more size at the back and another big time goaltender.

This team is close to being able to not only compete with the big dogs but beat them. If patient and with minimal tinkering here on in, this team is well on their way to giving the great hockey fans of Trenton something to be excited about.

I wish them well.....as long as they do not beat my Vees. wink.gif

Stay tuned.
