might just be the best goalkeeper in the OJ . He is Vaughan's best secret weapon. Anyone around hockey knows that a goaltender can carry you a long way.

http://www.pointstreak.com/prostats/playerpage.html?playerid=1431908&seasonid=4605

His .949 save percentage is tops in the league. he's a workhorse who has not compiled those numbers having played a smattering of minutes.

This guy is big, good with his pads down low and the best goalkeeper I have seen thus far this season.

And if he doesn't find employment somewhere else, this guy will be the one Vaughan player who may be largely responsible for Vaughan's success this year.

He could be a playoff story too.

Stay tuned.

And so ...

After wayne writes this nice fluff piece, Collingwood wins a 7-6 shootout in Vaughan ... Adamo was in goal for the Vipers, Kapalka had the night off.

Kevin Kapalka

Saw him play vs Couchiching last Friday night, he is the best goaltender I have seen this year,he frustrated the Couchiching shooters time after time. The Terriers were out goaltended once again, the goaltending seems rather weak compared to last years tandem of Cantlon and MCGrath.

I don't think his shootout record is too good.

The Vipers have lost more shootouts than any other team so far, in either the CCHL or the OJAHL.

Right now they stand at 5 shootout losses. I'm not sure how many Kapalka was in for, I know he was in when the Tigers won their shootout against the Vipers.

Then again it may be the Viper shooters that are responsible for Vaighan leading both leagues in SOL's.

I see it it this way

The very reason Vaughan gets to shootouts is because of Kapalka's excellence.

That says a lot about his goaltending. He gives his team the chance to win often.

But you are right, SMC . I cannot help but think about the soccer team AS Roma and their goalkeeper here in Kingston.

Steve Landon is a sure fire local Hall of Fame and much of it is because he stops them when he needs to.

Yes and it is often in shootouts that he excels. That quality is often what sets goalkeepers apart.

We all know all too well about the players who always perform well in practices but in the games do not.

The players that perform well in the regular season but not the playoffs.

The players who perform well when it all comes down to something called a shootout in hockey or penalties in soccer.

Kapalka has the goods and wouldn't it be nice for him if he could finish his junior career with something special?

I wish him well.

He stopped 51 of 54 shots tonight as Vaughan won in a shootout over Couchiching.
