Junior A Trading processOctober 20 2009 at 3:49 PM | hockeysurvivor (Login hockeysurvivor) Registered Members |
| OK hockey gurus, explain to me the trading process. Player's responsibility, coach's responsibility (response), timelines and when does the league get involved. |

I believe both the team and player(s) in question must come to an agreement to approve the trade. If I am correct no player can be traded without his(the player) permission.

As strange as it may sound I do believe Wexdog is correct. I can't confirm but I think there use to be a rule about how far the trade would take a player away from home. If over a certain number of KMs the player could refuse the trade. I don't think that limit exists anymore and the player has to agree to the move. |

Wex is correct an integral part of all trades in OHA Junior hockey (from both "A" leagues down to Junior "D")is that the player (or in the case of someone under 18 his parent/guardian) must agree to the deal.
At times it can be a big cross to bear for the team, but it also offers some protection on the players side considering that for many kids a deal could possibly have an adverse affect on someones school year.
It is a reality that Managers and Coaches have to deal with when they look to improve their roster. Its almost their own personal "cap" issue. | |
