My son and I have gone to a number of games at the wonderful arena in Toronto in the past three years.

However, due to the recent admissions of charging players, (for whatever reason), ethically, I can no longer agree to hand over my money to anyone at the ticket booth of SMCS arena.

When the Central Conference was created, there was a stipulation that stated team owners would have to have a $ 300,000.00 operating budget.

Why then, did SMC ownership feel the need to charge its' players money, even nominal amounts?

My son is too young to understand what ethics are, but rest assured he will learn them from me. This will be his first lesson.

You may not be alone PH. I have heard that the school itself is very concerned about this and what it means to their reputation.

Remaining fans may have to get use to a new name for this once storied franchise.

St Michael's has never been blessed with a big fan base as have most of the teams in this league.

But it often comes down to putting a competitive team on the ice as to whether people really want to pay to see them.

If the team does more than its' share of winning, most fans really could care less about what their practice of charging players to play is.

Pepsihead is a young man of high moral standards. Believe I know him pretty well. There is nothing wrong with his position and I suspect there could be some who would agree with him whole-heartedly.

i know a lot of people are thinking..a league without st mikes??
with what has happened i think that the school will be very embarrased about this and the leadership on creating the breakaway league that has irreperably damaged the game in ontario and certainly the reputation of the game in ontario.
yes it was broken before but not to this extent.
lets hope that the powers in hockey the oha ohf and hockey canada find a way to fix our game our league and put in measures that will never allow this to happen again .
one man should never be able to destroy the game!!!

Very well put Pepsi, I commend you for giving an honest opinion, an opinion that I'm sure many share.

Being an SMC alumnus, I am really starting to get "ticked off" that SMC allows their name and their famous "M" to be associated with McCarron and his crew. At the Hershey Centre, the current Majors proudly display huge posters of some of the NHL greats that have worn that "M", such as Davey Keon, Tim Horton, Red Kelly, Ted Lindsay, Father Dave Bauer and the big "M" himself Frank Mahovolich.

I was at the Hershey Centre the other night and as I looked up at those posters, I could not help but to think how downhill SMC has gone after 100 years of unequaled tradition.

I am more upset since I found out that McCarron took over the Buzzers for $1.00, actually another SMC alumnus told me it was 1 cent, whatever it was he got it for a song. To run the Buzzers down to the point that they have to charge players to play is a "crying" shame and a disgraceful reflection on SMC, it's history and tradition.

I have received many calls from SMC hockey alumni who want to do something about getting SMC to dis-associate themselves from the current Buzzer organization.

when was the last time you were at the st mikes arena? there a couple weeks ago and they had giant banners haning from the rafters of all those people you mentioned and pictures of every player that ever played for them all over the walls. musta missed that on your last alumni tour eh? you make it sound like they dont talk about or embrace their history!

thinking back on my history the school was going to fold the team back about 8 years ago since it was running a substantial debt every year and mccarron assumed the debt to keep it in school-alum hands. my bet is that was more than a penny!

last time i checked all the bench staff for the team is connected to the school...and about half the players.

everyone is still wating on your "scholarship" investigation guess that didnt pan out...

Actually PM's mask is not nameless in a sense, it's the mask of another St Mike's NHL great with Boston, goaltender Cherry Cheevers.

I know Gerry, I may call him and see whether there are any copyright infringements here, wouldn't that be a good one on the great PM!!!!!

But seriously you are correct, one who hides behind a mask and does not reveal his identity is either on the "lam" or hiding something so his comments should not be taken seriously as they are probably as "phony" as he is.
