Newspaper Coverage of OJAHL/CCHL

Last season the Toronto Star published the OJHL and CENTRAL game results and standings. This season the Star has not published the standings or game results from either league.

I remember a couple of seasons ago, I e mailed the Sports Editor of the Star re: coverage of the OJHL. After my e mail the results and standings started to appear. Don't know what has happened this season.

A friend of mine who reads the Toronto Sun each day, tells me that the Sun does publish game results and standings for the OJAHL but not the CCHL.

You would think that someone from the OJAHL/CCHL would have followed up on this by now.

Maybe I will send another e mail to the Star??

Just further indication of the sad state of Junior "A" hockey in Ontario, can't even get proper coverage in local major newspapers.

I sent lots of e-mails to the Spec sports editor here in Hamilton about putting in the standings of the CCHL well that still has not happened but at least the now carry the results and the schedules games..by comparison they have standings every day almost of the GOJHL.

Newspaper Coverage

Don't know about the STAR but do know through an employee at the SUN that $$$ is a major issue right now in terms of sports coverage. On the local York scene there has been too much coverage in my opinion. There are too many irrelevant articles and not enough quality ones. If there are 200 people showing up for a game in Newmarket or Aurora or Stoufville its hard to justify much media interest. The soap opera league separation stories were way overdone.

I do not recall seeing standings, but I do remember seeing the scores(both leagues) occasionally.

Time to pay the bill?

Perhaps we can get the Pennysaver to post this weeks scores.

Let's face it, Junior Hockey in this region has lowered it's playing standards to the Minor Hockey level.

The days of coverage from any large media outlet are gone. Of course if someone gets hurt real bad or gets arrested...enjoy the headlines.
