Overrated?

Does anyone think that James Dean's fame might be a bit overrated? I mean he was not in very many films so we don't really have a long career to look at. Personally, I think most of his fame came from his death. Who knows...he might have eventually become a GREAT actor, but as it it is, we just don't really know how good he was.
