Donald Turnipseed made his turn without yielding right of way, he hit his brakes twice many feet before collision and at the last moment accelerated. They did not collide driver side to driver side. Turnipseed's left "front" driver side headlight made impact wth Dean's driver "side", evidence shows that the headlight on Turnipseeds car made impact with the left side of Dean's head. Of all the witnesses at the scene, they all let him bleed to death, Dean friend, actor & stuntman Bill Hickman was holding Dean when he breathed his last breath and he arrived on the scene no less than 5 minutes maybe even up to 7 minutes later and Dean was still breathing. Although, when Dean arrived at the hospital, the doctor said there was not enough blood in the body to test for alcohol.
