They weren't missing, the two rear tires were sold to a car racer and the engine was sold to another. I can't remember which, but both had accidents soon after on the track and one of the gentlemen died as a result. Most of the "workable" parts were salvaged and sold...not on auction. The aluminum frame was tacked together and went on a Highway Patrol tour of the country, for a few years, then it mysteriously vanished, which means some greedy nut job stole it.
