I don't think it really matters because when I first got a relaxer I grew my hair from neck length to 2 inches above bra strap length in 2 and 1/2 months by wearing it down and using Indian Hemp hair grease and no vitamins
My aunt grew her hair from about the same length or maybe a little shorter to almost waist length in 1 year by wearing it in a ponytail with a ponytail attachment but she also used hair grease. oils are thinner and don't protect the hair from breakage like hair grease. So I guess it would depend on what you use to protect your hair strands from breakage.
