Your Safety at Fry's

by Bob (no login)

A while back I did contracting work at a particular Fry's location. I noticed a stack of big-screen-TVs about to tip over. The stack was about 20' high, and if it were to tip over, it would have a domino effect and knock another TV off the adjacent stack, and that TV would fall down on top of the magazine racks--or rather, the numerous people that are always in front of those racks.

I brought this to the attention of the manager, and his reaction was "OMG" and went to fix the problem. Well, 4 hours later the problem was still there, just leaning a little more. I told a supervisor in one of the departments, and he said, "It's not our problem." (I would like to have heard his reaction if the TV did fall and break someone's neck.) I went back to the manager, and several other supervisors and demanded that it was fixed. 5 hours later, it was.

I also noted during my duration of work that Fry's employees continuely bump these stacks with the fork lift, and I witnessed several near-collapses of these stacks. Your best buys may always be at Fry's, but your safety isn't.
