But the thoughtlessness could be on the part of Esteban (and Andres and Maricarmen). These writers seem to understand people and their actions and motivations very well. (But oh my, I wish they had had some better guidance for the medical scenes, because if you've ever worked in a trauma ICU that scene was hilarious and it was supposed to be sad.)(Of course, I still adore this novela, I just wish they had done a better job with those scenes.)
