Victoria opens her eyes and can see and hear Luis and Julia. The doctor comes in, and Julia has to hustle Luis out, because he's so enthusiastic, he's getting in the doctor's way, LOL. Out in the waiting room she thanks God again, and Luis wants to call Esteban to give him the news, even though it's late. That's especially kind of him, considering Esteban didn't do them that favor.
Chiripas surprises Chaquira, picking her up after work, and he notices she's a little disappointed that he hadn't contacted her. He explains it was because his best friend was having some problems. He drives her home and they give each other about half a dozen big kisses and hugs, saying goodnight. They plan to meet tomorrow. Chaquira grins big as she leaves the truck, and Queta, who has played a peeping tomasina from the patio during all this, asks her about her boyfriend on her way through. Chaquira says it's early on yet and doesn't want to make too much of things. Queta starts to give Chaquira some advice, but then backtracks, pointing out that if anybody knows men, it's Chaquira. Nice goin', Queta. Chaquira's mood is broken, and she leaves looking sad and resigned.
Esteban visits Victoria in her cubicle. He says he's so glad to see her, and she agrees in return. Luis is also there, and she tells him she remembers the accident. And she thinks she dreamed hearing Maru make up with her. Luis comes close and assures her that it wasn't a dream; Maru came to the hospital and talked to her. They agree they are going to be so happy together. Esteban is frowning.
Camilo and Fernando are finishing up a meal in a restaurant in Queretaro. The restaurant is decorated with red, white and green paper garlands, and to one side a television shows the bullfights. Camilo leaves, but Fernando notices Mauricio in a corner and goes to talk to him. He wants to find out about who Mauricio's working for, and Mauricio is caught flat footed. He's obviously flustered and doesn't do a good job talking himself out of this one at all. Fernando is very suspicious and doesn't understand, but takes his leave. Immediately, a nervous Mauricio gets on the horn to Esteban (he forgets to put up his cell-phone antenna at first), warning him about Fernando's interest.
The doctor tells Julia, Luis and Esteban that Victoria's danger has passed, and that she's going to be moved to a regular hospital room. Meanwhile back at the Rivera's, Andres sits in his office and mulls over some of his moments with Victoria. Esteban calls Andres just then and reports the good news. Andres is feeling very impatient, though. Upstairs, Valentina is preparing for what she hopes is a night with her husband, but when he comes upstairs, he shies away from the master bedroom and instead opts for a guest bedroom.
In Victoria's private room, Lolita about crushes the life out of her friend, she's so happy to see her. Sergio comes in smiling big, too, and Lolita and Julia leave. Sergio expresses his joy at seeing Victoria recovered and tells her his uncle's made up with him, and furthermore is looking into the financial details of her father's business failure. She's very happy to hear this.
At Ines's house, Victoria's friend and she are discussing the accident, recovery, Fernando and Sergio and how they feel about the various situations. Ines tells the friend that Sergio's changed and is willing to fight for Victoria now. The friend frustrates Ines, though, by insisting that maybe Sergio's changed, but Victoria doesn't love him any more, so it doesn't matter.
Maru rushes into Victoria's room with a present for her. It's a cute, bright green, stuffed dinosaur. I feel sure she picked it out herself, LOL. They make up officially, Maru being very loving to her, and Victoria suggests they forget everything and start over. Everybody agrees. Maru stacks Luis's and Victoria's hands on hers and declares they will always be together! Lidia is there and wants to apologize to Victoria, too, and they include her in the new start. Maru wants Victoria to move in with them, but Luis cautions her Victoria needs some rest yet. Victora requests a certain kind of cake ("3-milk"), and Lidia is glad to oblige.
At the office, Andres is still anxious and impatient. At first he wants Aurora to get a hold of the specialist in Guadalajara, and then in a flash he changes his mind and turns around to call his pilot to get his plane ready. At home, Valentina has overslept, and the maid comes in telling her Laura is already downstairs waiting. While she gets dressed, Laura is standing at the bottom of the stairs when Sandra breezes in and wants to know who she is. Sandra's not very nice. She lets herself into Valentina's room without knocking and insintuates that she doesn't like Laura much. I guess not. Laura might help Valentina. She especially doesn't like it that Laura's a relative of the doctor.
In his house in Queretaro, Fernando stealthily goes to the safe in his bedroom, opens it and takes out the San Roman business file. He's walking downstairs reading it, and when he gets to the first landing, he accidentally drops a few papers and has to bend over to pick them up. Suddenly, someone is there! We see two gloved hands push Fernando while he's bent over, and the poor man goes rolling down the last flight of stairs and lands at the bottom, unconscious, his eyeglasses clattering on the tiles. Of the perpetrator, we can see only his legs. He's wearing a suit, he's very short and walks with a gait like Don Abel's, if you ask me. When he gets to the bottom of the stairs, the creep carelessly crushes Fernando's eyeglasses underfoot on his way out.
Back in Victoria's hospital room, she's not hungry, but Luis is handling her lunch with no trouble. Gawd, he's so funny, packing it away like a teenager. It's gone in about four gulps. She just wants to dwell on how nice things will be when they get back home and can focus on all their plans, prepations for the wedding, and being happy. Talking like this just delights Luis. Unbeknownst to them, outside the room door, Esteban is trying to keep an anxious Andres from barging in. He's warning Andres that Luis is in there with Victoria and that it's a sure thing that nobody and nothing is going to break them up.
Sergio arrives back in Queretaro, and is carrying his suitcases into the patio. Calling for his uncle, he suddenly notices with horror, that his uncle is collapsed on the ground. He frantically runs to him and yells for someone to come. One of the household helpers runs up and he yells at her to hurry up and call somebody! On the way to the hospital in the emergency vehicle, the medical technician tells a disconsolate Sergio that his uncle is in critical condition. Fernando wakes long enough to try to hold Sergio's hand, and I think he wants to talk, but just sputters.
Back at the vecinidad, Queta's telling Rosario that she hasn't been able to raise Abel this morning, when Pan Dulce (Incarna? Is that an unusual name?) comes by. She's alarmed that Queta can't find Abel and goes right up to Abel's apartment. (Meanwhile in the patio, three little boys have cleaned out the Churro guy, each one of them toting as many as they can carry.) Up at Abel's door, Incarna can't raise him and uses her key to get in. She's looking around inside with no luck, when suddenly he barges in, furious with her. He is so abominably rude to her. Abel's never nice, but I guess he's really livid that she and everybody knows he was somewhere else last night. He kicks her out, and then does something really weird. He pulls his wallet out of his pocket and then takes a screwdriver and dislodges a panel from the baseboard behind his sofa. We see that he keeps a pile of cash in there, and he adds a stack from his wallet together with the pile and then, groveling on the floor, gleefully sticks his face into the pile. Sick. But I guess he just got paid for something, eh?
Victoria is alone in her hospital room, sleeping with the little green stuffed dinosaur tucked into the crook of her arm, when Andres hesitantly enters. Coincidentally, she is dreaming about the night of her father's accident and of him railing about Andres Rivera on the phone before he went out. He breaks her reverie calling her name and expressing his pleasure that she's going to be ok. Surprisingly, the first thing she does is thank him for his generosity to her and her family and friends. Anyone would have done the same in my place. You are.. She interrupts, I'm an employee, but I didn't think you'd handle this personally. Victoria, nobody really knows me. She answers, And so who are you really, hm? Do you really want to know? he asks. Yes, she replies. And then that darned Esteban barges in before he can say anything else and calls him away. Frustrated sigh from Victoria.
Luis and Lidia are packing in their hotel room to go home, and he and Maru are working on Lidia real hard to come and live with them. She finally gives in, but has to go to Queretaro first to pick up some things. It's a cute scene, because Luis is tossing Maru around, making her scream with laughter.
At the Rivera's in some nice room I haven't seen before, Jose Joaquin is trying to show Valentina some plans for a house for the Foundation. I don't really understand what's not good about it, except maybe that there's no place for the kids to play, but Laura somehow doesn't quite approve. Maybe it's because he's trying to railroad Valentina and doesn't care whether there's no place to play or not. I don't know. Anyway, Valentina takes Laura's word over Jose Joaquin's, and this earns Laura a scowl from Jose Joaquin. He doesn't want anything eroding his influence with Valentina. Laura holds her ground really well with him. She's a tough lady. (I like the yellow print in the drapes and upholstery in this room.)
And in a very sad scene, Sergio is tearfully praying at the Queretaro hospital chapel and remembering the voice of Fernando in their last phone call. We need to be together again, like we always have been. The ambulance medical technician comes up next to Sergio and gives his condolences, having heard that Sergio's uncle has died. Sergio cries inconsolably. Poor guy. I felt so badly for him.
Back home in Mexico City, all the ladies of the vecinidad are crowding into Luis's apartment, yacking all at once. Queta has made a basketful of tamales, and they are all trying to welcome him home and get news of Victoria. He finally quiets them down and tells them with pregnant pauses for proper emphasis, that (1) Victoria is out of danger, (2) Maru has made up with Victoria and (3) they are getting married. Big cheer! And a hug from Queta.
Down in Laura's apartment, Beatriz is absent from the little impromptu party. She's crying her eyes out and feeling miserable about herself. Laura comes in and catches her at it and is rather disgusted. Just look at you. You're thinking of doing away with yourself again just because some fellow doesn't like you how you think he should! Beatriz jumps up and is all over Laura, because she doesn't want anybody blaming Toni for anything. (I'm beginning to think this girl needs to be on Lithium.)
Finally, Valentina rushes into David's room and closes the door, crying piteously. He's there working at his desk. She's feeling so alone and so despairing. Andres has flown away to Guadalajara again. How is she supposed to get back together with him? David turns to her, like he might start crying, and begs, Mom, hold me! Hold me like you used to! Hold me, Mom! She does, crying How I need you! I need you so much, over and over. They're embracing, and the camera slowly zooms in on her. When it pulls away, we see she's standing there with her arms around empty air. Roll Televisa logo, music up and tune in Tuesday morning!
