Julia comes back into the hospital room, telling Andres the doctor is on his way. When he gets there, he scolds Victoria roundly for trying to leave early, and she is chastised. In the other room, Andres gets all over Julia for being irresponsible. Julia gets her back up, reminding him she's cared for Victoria from birth! Well, he says, you spoiled her! She's rebellious and willful. She should accept the decisions of those who know better than she does! The doctor comes in and tells them Victoria's all right; she just needs more rest. The two men leave. Julia relates to Victoria how ticked off she is at Andres. Victoria admits he and the doctor were right. Julia can admit the doctor was right, but that Andres Rivera is another matter!

At Andres office in Mexico City, Aurora tells Sandra they haven't heard from Andres all day. Down in Esteban's office, Valentina signs papers for Quintana Enterprises. She tells him she doesn't understand a thing about them, but she trusts Andres to take care of things. Esteban tells her Andres put him in charge of these particular details, and she understands that, but realizes that Andres means everything to her. She's planning on having lunch with him, but Sandra comes in and reports he's not been in all day. Valentina's crushed, and the other two are perplexed. Later at home, Valentina finally gets Andres on the phone after many tries, and he says he's coming home and to wait dinner for him. That probably makes her happy. (I think he was back at the office at that point.)

On the way home from school after the rescue, Maru stops Luis and tells him she's so afraid for him. She tries to talk him into doing some other kind of work. Luis relates how the only thing he's ever wanted to be is a firefighter, and when she realizes this, she gives in. Luis reassures her that nothing's going to happen to him. When they get home, Maru amazes and entertains her grandma Lidia with the heroic tale. She's so proud of her dad. Lidia notices that, despite everything, Luis looks sad. She gets him to admit it's because he misses Victoria. It's been an eternity since I saw her! Lidia insists that he travel right away to Guadalajara, and she will keep Maru. He doesn't need a lot of convincing.

At the circus, a very serious Chaquira comes up to Chiripas and wants to talk. She wants to tell him all the truth about herself. He insists he doesn't care about what happened before. I'm not some kid who's worried I'm not the first man in your life! Chaquira adds to that, telling him it's not a man, but men. Lots of men. Chiripas is a little frightened now. She starts her story way at the beginning, when first her dad abandoned her and her mother, and later her mother abandoned Chaquira. She had so many dreams of a colorful life, like ladies in the movies. Of beautiful clothes. She got in with bad people, believed what bad men told her and wound up on the street. They are both crying buckets, but Chiripas is really surprised and feels devastated. He jumps up, yelling Be quiet! Chaquira goes on, though. I'm a bad woman, as the decent people call my sort. He asks, desolate, So did you get your beautiful clothes? Well, no, but there was this long, gorgeous green dress; it was all covered with chaquiras. She says too brightly, Oh, did I tell you they call me Chaquira? He can't stand to hear any more and runs off, leaving poor Chaquira sitting there alone. She talks to herself, lamenting pitifully that it's just like she thought. She'll never have love nor happiness.

Over at Ines's house in Queretaro, Sergio is working with some figures on an adding machine while talking to Camilo. Ines rushes in with a sudden thought: Sergio, you must contest Fernando's will! Camilo agrees with her wholeheartedly. After all, you're the only relative Fernando had in the whole world, and you're a lawyer. Sergio's stunned a bit at first, but finally assents. He thinks his uncle would have wanted him to do it.

At a restaurant somewhere, Roberto is romancing his other woman. They are busy painting a rosy picture of the future when his cell phone rings. It's so funny; he won't let go of Leonora's hand and has to pull up the antenna with his teeth. Well, it's Alma calling to cancel their date for that night, and as soon as he hangs up, he fills in the hole in his calendar with present company. Leonora thought he had some political meeting to go to, but he avows she's the most important thing in his life! (What made me mad about this scene is that the music director chose the pure and lovely piano theme for these two, and that's supposed to be reserved for Luis and Victoria. What a travesty!)

Over at Jose Joaquin's bachelor pad, he's having Sandra over for a meal. They're chewing over the state of the situation, and she tells him not to worry. She's got something up her sleeve regarding Valentina. Later we see her going into a hole-in-the-wall shop in a bad part of town. It's all dark and shadowy inside, lit by red candles and some sort of little oil pot, with an open flame, sitting on a table. We see what must be the witch woman there, arranging her herbs, and she has her back to Sandra, but isn't startled when she enters. Sandra tells her she would like help with something. There's a woman who has the man that I love, and I need her to leave him. The witch shocks Sandra when she baldy asks if she wants the woman dead. Sandra hadn't quite gotten that far yet, and so the woman offers her a tincture that will just make her rival insane. A little of this makes her delusional, more will produce stronger results, but if you keep it up, it will finish her right off. Sandra's taken aback, but accepts the vial. Can this be traced if there's an investigation? The witch woman answers, You think I want trouble? No way. Sandra tells her the tincture will do for now, and they will have to wait and see about the other thing.

Luis goes down to Lolita's because she wanted to see him. She just wanted to know if he had any news from Victoria, and while he's there he tells her he plans on surprising Victoria with a visit. The two of them chow down a big sandwich Lolita was eating and talk around it the whole time. I'm surprised there wasn't sandwich on the camera. Luis warns her not to ruin the surprise!

Over at the Riveras, they're just finishing dinner, and Andres unwraps the watch Valentina bought for him. At first he's grumping, but then when she starts to put it on him, I think he likes it. He's smiling and they are kissing when suddenly Chiripas is ushered in and frantically wants to talk with Andres. Valentina doesn't quite have the watch on his wrist, and Andres runs out, leaving the watch on the table. Valentina's pretty disgusted Chiripas ruined their nice evening they were having.

Over at Esteban's penthouse, he's at his bedroom writing table, unpacking stacks of money from his briefcase and exulting in the wonderfulness of them. He brings the stacks to his nose and breathes deep of the heavenly, intoxicating money smell. Better than sex? Beethoven's Fifth Symphony, with it's signature, bombastic DUM DUM DUM DUM! plays on the CD, and Esteban dances around the room holding his beloved money. In the closet, he unlocks the safe and before tossing the stacks in, whacks them on the rim in rythm with the DUM DUM DUM DUM! He's in ecstasy. Now, where did he get that money?

Meanwhile, at the hospital, Julia is trying to get to sleep, but she can't stop playing over and over in her mind, the tender attention Andres was showing Victoria when she fainted. She opens her eyes and stares into space, looking worried. Just then the phone rings, and it's Lolita. She misses them and leaks the secret about Luis's visit, but swears Julia to secrecy. Julia seems so relieved that Luis is coming to see Victoria that Lolita's prompted to ask about it. Julia can't tell her now, but if her suspicions are true, it would be very bad! (A rich, married man, has the hots for Victoria? Plus he's the one ruined Don Alfredo? Shivers!)

Back at Luis's apartment, he's just leaving for his trip to Guadalajara; but first he gets Dona Lidia and Maru to give him their blessings. Lidia is tickled to do so. It's a very touching little scene. I'm glad Lidia feels part of the family now. After he leaves, she hugs Maru and assures her nothing is going to keep Victoria and Luis from being happy now!

Andres and Chiripas sit at some nondescript cafe, and Chiripas unloads about his horrifying talk with Chaquira. Andres is far from horrified, though. The two of us are not exactly pure as the driven snow, you know! If she did all that, it's because she had to to survive. And she was honest with you because she loves you! Her confession took guts! Chiripas is still so hurt that he can't talk about it. I love her so much. Like I never have and never will again!

Over at Toni's, Chaquira (who insists he call her Elena now) makes Toni listen to her unhappy life story, like he unfolded to her. She's very upset she's lost the only decent guy she ever had. The only one who ever treated her with respect. Through all the awful times in her life, she still always thought that one day she'd be able to find love, find happiness. But now I don't think so. Nobody could forgive my past. Toni, who has his own issues to deal with and who has had trouble even listening to Elena, can identify with this last assertion. He goes and hugs Elena and tells her she's right. Nobody could ever forgive us. People like us are condemned to live without love.

At the hospital, Julia talks up Luis to Victoria, and Victoria thinks this is a little strange, I believe. She also tells her she wants to talk to Esteban about something important. When she calls him later, Mauricio is there at Esteban's and keeps him from answering the phone. Esteban may be flattered, thinking Mauricio wants uninterrupted time together, but I think Mauricio's afraid it was a return-dial from a girl he just tried to call. Anyway, Julia doesn't get to talk to Esteban. I bet she was going to ask him about Andres and Victoria.

Finally, we see Sandra in front of her mirror, looking very witchy herself, mulling over her plans for Valentina and the vial of loco-weed juice. Roll credits, music up and have a nice weekend. See you Tuesday.
