#63 (FRIDAY, 2/11/00) The Wedding

by

Dear Folks,

There must be something wrong with my VCR, because it didn't record last night either. When I read today's summary, I could not believe I missed the wedding.

I am about ready to cry, because I wanted to see this episode more than any other episode in the novela. I just can't believe it. If somebody wants to send me the tape, I would be so happy for you to. Please let me know at jeri@tormenta.com. Thanks. I'm just broken hearted at the moment.

In tonight's episode, the wedding day approaches with a lot of excitement--at least for Luis and Victoria. The ladies of the vecindad have given her a washer--like she's really going to do the laundry. I'm sorry, but I have a hard time seeing her doing household chores like that. Thank God Luis is good at sewing and taking care of other "womanly" duties. Victoria will probably take her stuff to the dry cleaners. Luis better watch his uniforms.

Anyway, they finally tie the knot. With Esteban giving her away and all of Luis' "firebrothers" routing him on. The entire vecindad was there and even Don Ruffino who as usual had a few words of wisdom about the loving couple--and I think it was the first time that I have seen him without a hat. There was one unexpected guest watching--Andres. He stood at the back of the church watching as they kneeled to ask for God's blessing. Afterwards he went to...

Valentina who was ecstatic to see him. So much in fact that she opened a bottle of champagne and they toasted to their new life together. She wanted them to act like it was when they first got married. Problem? Andres didn't stop drinking to the point that Valentina got her wish--they did the wild thing. Only the one not too happy with what happened was David because he feels his mother took advantage of him when he was drunk and depressed. But Valentina as usual didn't want to hear about it--all she cares about is that she now has new hopes of being pregnant.

Manuel is still boasting about Alma's soon to be wedding-which by the way will never happen!!

Mauricio is playing in rougher waters now. He went to the almacenes with Esteban where he waited for him in the cafe--only to find himself having coffee with Sandra. And she has taken to him too. Esteban saw when Mauricio was flirting with Sandra and blew a gut. Esteban told him he should have known who Sandra was and not gotten involved with her. Mauricio, being the player that he is, took Sandra to dinner when Esteban went to Victoria's wedding. But if he finds out, Mauricio better watch out.

Don Angel has asked Esteban for another chance to work for him. Giving him a sad sob story. Please...

Anyway, lets see who gets pregnant first-Victoria or Valentina!! It's the battle of the "V"'s!!

Until next time...stay tuned.

Hey everyone----I just had to say a word on the wedding night. I already posted a note about this----but was it not the most romantic scene you have ever seen-----the rose petals, the tenderness--take my breath away!!!!!!

Yes!! And, where (in real life) are all these men who, when they tell another man (as Luis did the priest) that nothing was happening until the wedding night, actually feel good about it!!!!

You are so right...... I have to still believe there are men out there such as the character of Luis. We have to think positive.. Until next time all!!!

Have you noticed none of the men who read this web page has responded? I guess there aren't any.
Well, back to the drawing board!!

Actually,as a man I was very moved by the wedding. I wish that I had waited like Luis!. That was the most moving wedding and wedding night I have ever seen. It really was special to see the true commitment and the special gift of waiting for each other. I can only think that us mere men fool ourselves in thinking that we know better than God what is best for us. He gives us a gift that we squander out of our own ignorance. I truly robbed myself of that awesome night.

Wow! Thank you for your response to my question!! My parents tried to teach me the value of waiting for marriage, but I wouldn't listen. Only now that I am older (and unfortunately wiser) do I understand. Besides the fact that sex outside of marriage(or at least a loving relationship) can complicate your life incredibly, it's so much more beautiful and meaningful when you wait.
