Speaking of New Brugs

We've been discussing Shirley's beautiful new seedling and the not-to-be-believed Mars brug...but have you seen the featured New Brug of the Month at BGI? It's called 'Jacayna'...quite a pretty thing.

Patrick, is it really 84 degrees at your place? Wow, that would feel good here right now. It's 70 and raining.

Paul's brug is certainly different. I don't think I've ever seen one that had so many different colors on it. It almost looks different each way you look at it.

Yep, Shirley...you got the temp right. The high was 86 today and that sure feels warm in this part of the country. I'm out (mostly in the shade) organizing nursery pots...I need to get rid of at least 50% of my stash. Wish I could trade the smallish size for tree-size pots for my brugs. Kinda like Carrie, I've just come in for an iced tea break! My cherry tomatoes seem to like the warmth...they're starting to ripen.

70 would feel very nice, but I'll keep the sunshine, thanks. All too soon, we won't see nearly enough sun & it will be chilly, damp & drizzly.

Kathy, I hear ya! We're all going to have move onto acreage in order to have room for our brugs.

I've got one for sale. 2.78 acres, two bedroom house with basement, upstairs familyroom, two garages, work shop, two outbuildings, garden and flower beds and my little greenhouse. I'd sell in a heartbeat. LOL!

Shirley, where would you go??? I love my acreage, but must take steps to get more water. That is the next thing on our agenda - a new well that will allow me to use the sprinkler system.
I am in awe, Patrick - your area is warmer than mine as I type. Is that a switch or what? We are going to be rid of the triple digits for the next 5 days - maybe for the rest of the summer (she says hopefully). Now if MN will just cloud up and rain on me tonight, I will be a happy camper.

Carrie, a few hours ago on the Hummingbird Forum, someone from Dallas posted that it rained hard there. She started to take her hummingbird feeder inside, but she had hummers giving her a hard time about it, so she left it out in the rain.

Now you know where your rain went!

Oh yes, they had all sorts of rain in Dallas, but they are so stingy with it, they would not let any of it come up North.

Carrie, your rain patterns mimic ours here in Mission. McAllen, just 5 miles away will get poured on and we'll hardly get a drop. Been like that all summer. We watch the clouds roll in and scatter over McAllen but leave us without anything that would emit rain. Go figure!!

Carrie,
My girlfriend in Dallas told me that her parents yard in Rockwall has a crack in that's 4 ft. deep and wide! I plan to come out there (finally) at the end of September. Her house fiasco is finally finished, so we can take a week and have some fun.

There are cracks (not that large) all over my yard and pasture. It is cloudy and misting today - hoping for that downpour that will put some water in my pond and in our lakes. My driveway has been wet for several hours now (no sun to dry it up) so maybe today will be the day. Looking forward to seeing you in September, Michele.

I look forward to a garden tour and meeting the donkeys and even though I feel I already know you, it will be nice to meet in person.

So Carrie....you ARE getting rain?? We have it in our forecast, but I did't catch when it's headed our way. Think I'll prune the tomato leaves up from the ground to try to prevent Late Blight...we're at risk once we start to get rain and my tomatoes are just starting to ripen!

Re: Speaking of New Brugs

As you can see, Patrick, I am still one degree cooler than you and it just now hit the 80's - we have been in the 70's all day for the first time in probably six months. The rain has stopped - did not get a lot, but more is predicted. This certainly helped and the cloud cover kept it from evaporating, so my plants look so happy today.
Thanks, Ruth and I hope everyone that needs rain gets wet.

Yep, Michele, Linda and the rest of you Floridians, button down the hatches and we pray that you'll come through it just fine. I hope that by sheer luck we in TX get a bit of rain from Ernesto.

Michele, we're expecting more rain from that too...
Although currently it looks like it's going to be headed more toward your side... I'll say it now... stay safe, all of you in the area.

Question though, do you guys feel secure... safe in the knowledge that FEMA is "ready" to come to our rescue? I heard on the weather channel earlier today that they're "prepared" with food and water...

We got some rain! I would have like a little more but at least it was more than we have had in way too long. We got no wind and just a day of two of on and off rain
Michele--how much did you get? I still believe there is a bubble over this areaa at times when it comes to rain!!! Everyone gets it except me!
I will be off for Labor Day but will be working harder in yard than I do at work! Soooo much to do!

Tropical Storm! where??? Sure wasn't over here...I don't think we even got an inch of rain and we didn't get any wind. Well, I'm not complaining, we've had a decent amount of rain the past month. I haven't had to water the lawn, just the plants in the backyard and I find it relaxing.

That would be relaxing, Michele. I got one day off - the day I got a quarter inch of rain and it stayed cloudy all day.
