caterpillar

I was underneath my brug, counting the bloom pods that are starting (ok, I am new, and this is my first real flowering since I got the plant), and I found a caterpillar on a branch. We don't have ones with hair (the main ones are called slugs), but this was small about 1" long, sortof black with white hairs sticking out. I have been reading about all the bugs and diseases the brugs get, so I flicked it off and stepped on it. Are there likely to be more? Anyone know what it may have been? Was I right to eliminate it? or are there some bugs that are brug friendly? Thanks. Selma

I would have gotten rid of the worm also, don't want them taking lunch on my plants.

I don't know what kind he was, but I'll bet he had brug salad on his mind!

Well, today I found another one of the same caterpillars, and some of my leaves are looking like he has been lunching on MY plant! He went the way of his relative. The interesting thing is, we never have had caterpillars here before, and I have never seen any like these. the only good caterpillar is a dead one! Selma
