Pink, shredded look

Here it goes again... lol. Out of all of the blooms, so far I've counted only 2 or 3 that aren't split atleast a little.

I'd really like to know exactly what's causing this, heat?, humidity?, the "dreaded shredding disease?"

I believe it is environmental issues that cause the shredding. I had one bloom on Mtn. Magic that was not really shredded, but the petals were totally divided from tip to top. It looked like your middle picture with color. The same plant has had about 5 flushes of flowers this summer and never had another strange bloom.

Patrick, lol, Shreditis is good!

Joy, that's really weird, even with the shredding these still smell really nice, better than they have all summer even.

Shirley, somewhere I got the idea that only suave style flowers would do the splits, it seems odd that MM would do it with versi type pendulous flowers. Looks like they'll do whatever they want given the right or wrong conditions.

Not very pretty and I hope I don't see it happen again, tho it won't hurt anything other than my ego. LOL!

Well, it isn't all that bad.
I didn't realize when you posted that picture before that it was MM. I remember that I had just come in from taking pictures of our suave white with it's first shredded looking flower in the midst of a bunch of normal ones, then I saw your picture and thought, "huh, well isn't that interesting..."

The splits on that one go up much higher than any I saw on our pink or our white.

Now that my brug's buds are opening on a daily basis, I am finding quite a few that are shredded -- mostly pink. There will be only one, maybe two that are shredded, and the rest are normal. Not one of my brugs did this last year !!
