Man, I have just been gazing again at some of Shirley Morr's posts with pictures of her Brugs and they look so good. I am ignorant about the weather there, is it humid in the summer? Do you get summer rain? And it just isn't the flowers that look so great but the foliage and all over health of the plants.
Brugs "like" the nearly frost-less winters we have here in So. Calif, but hate the dry summers. I just can't water mine enough right now. And the daily wilt stress causes them to rush through a flush of flowers very quickly.

Jill, I wish we had the perfect weather, but the last two summers have been horribly dry and hot, hot, hot. I have had to move the brugs into full shade to keep them from croaking in the summer heat. Now they are back out into more sun again. I had lots of leaf damage from the heat/mites/sprays, mainly because the three don't mix and we didn't have any cool weather for me to spray in when the mites were at their worst.
We do have humid days with all of the above and brugs do like the humidity. We went for what seemed like months without rain or at least enough rain to do any good. A quarter of an inch just doesn't soak those roots. I water two or three times a day in the heat. Now that we have cooled off and our nights are cool, one time a day will be enough unless it is windy.
Thanks for your nice comments. I have to tell you that I'm pretty selective when I take pictures. LOL! You don't get the chance to see the uglies and I had lots of them this summer from foliage to blooms.
Well, at least we are having foggy mornings! No rain expected for quite awhile. It will still be almost too hot on Halloween to wear long sleeved costumes!
Do you have to bring your Brugs in in the winter or can you leave them in the ground?

Jill, I'll start bringing them in by taking cuttings for some to grow in the house and by putting a few potted ones in the garage, around the first of October. It's a time when I have to watch the weather forecasts closely and if it is going to frost, I work like a dog to get things under cover.
I took another picture or two tonight of Harlot. This brug just blooms and blooms. As I fix boxes to mail out, I'll certainly not let any of her go to waste, even if you didn't ask for her. She is worth growing. This one is standing in full sun. Of course, our temps aren't hot now, but her color is still good.
Shirley, she is a worthy specimen - so pretty (and pink). What are the white flowers there? They make such a nice contrast. She may be a Harlot, but she is a beautiful one !!!!!!
Well, I certainly wouldn't complain about finding Harlot in my box, she's a beautiful Brug, actually, so is the other one up there, Rosalie. I couldn't see the speckles before, but they look really cool.

Wouldn't have a problem finding Harlot in my box either, Shirley, if you have extras. She's one gorgeous brug and from your comments quite a performer, too. Can't blame you for not wanting to toss any of her cuttings.
