What's blooming!

January 14 2007 at 7:50 PM

Linda  (Login Flagardengal)

One of my mystery brugs bloomed and I am trying to identify it. Anyone have any ideas? Possibly could be CG or Jean Pasko but not sure.

Also my Japanese Magnolia is in bloom

and a Peach colored double hibiscus

Many of the brugs have buds, many ready to open. I will post as they bloom!

Hope everyone who is having the bad weather is doing OK-stay warm and let's hope spring is with us soon!

Sorry, I can't identify your brug, but it is beautiful, as are your other pictures....as we sit here freezing! I am near Patrick, but the thermometer read 15 this am, and it is only 30 not. I suppose we should be grateful it has doubled today. Some day it will rain again and be warmer.
Thanks for reminding me what spring looks like!

Very pretty, Linda, but no way to positively ID it. Doesn't matter as long as you love it. We are not as cold as predicted, but definitely 40 degrees colder than I want to be.

Could be Charles Grimaldi or DR Seuss... I believe I see serrated leaves. I can't remember if JP has them or not. Charles Grimaldi has a candy like fragrance to me. All of your blooms are very pretty!

Very pretty. I especially like your magnolia. How big will that variety get?

Karyn - the Japanese Magnolia only grows to about 10 ft high and blooms only in the spring. The blooms are a lemon fragrance and open/look like tulips. I have only had it for 1 year, but it does well

Beautiful pictures Linda and how lucky you are to be getting blooms.
There are so many lookalike Brugs out there now I think it would be impossible to give a definite ID on your Brug.
It is still just as beautiful with or without a name.

Linda, the flower is lovely. Sorry, I don't know enough to even guess at what it could be.

We are having a real cold snap here for the next few days, so thank you for sharing such a happy photo - a brug in bloom. We don't have any of those up here. Tonight it's going to be down to 9 degrees here... tomorrow night it will be 4 degrees. YUK!!!!!

That's a pretty Brug, and I love the shade of purple on the Magnolia blooms.

Bren, funny you should mention candy fragrance for the CGs... when Harlot bloomed I thought she smelled something like a CG only slightly stronger, and it reminded me of SweeTarts, the red ones, lol.

Pretty pictures, Linda. I'm sure I couldn't tell you what you have. I wish there were a foolproof way to keep all brugs identified all the time.
