Rose Apple

Rose Apple, Malabar Plum, Syzygium jambos
Not a Brug but quite attractive, I think, interesting fruit too.

Mike, the last time you were here I believe you asked if we had ever tried the fruit. Just wanted to tell you thanks, we probably never would have if you hadn't asked.
I can't get close enough to a flower to sniff, but the fruit does smell and taste strongly like roses smell with a texture similar to an apple.

some people donot like them i have never tried it and some people love them the neibor has a related tree called java plum the fruit sorta smells like a plum but taste like chalky something or another not sure how to describe it. i do have a wax jambu that is also related was not here last year when they ripened so not sure what it taste like either.in the same family but not real close is guava and a bit further the eugenias surinam cherry and the other eugenias

in gardening there are no failures only learning experiances unless of course you give up mikey in fl

Wow, that's a really awesome looking plant! I would never have known about it had you not posted. The entire myrtle family is kinda outside of my zone so I don't really know anything about them. Neat fruit, it does almost look like a rose hip.
