Hardening off Dat's?

I've had Brugs outside now for more than a week, but the night-time temps are still getting into the upper 40's for a few hours each night. My plants actually look happier then they did in the greenhouse and all the new leaves on them are pretty healthy green. I had used an ugly, slug-eaten cutting as my guinea pig. It went out last week and has been getting 6 hrs of full sun a day and no protection from cold with no ill effects. Even a brug seedling I have brought outside is lovin' life on my south facing porch. Today I moved out a Datura wrightii seedling about 6" tall and put it on the north facing porch. How much more sensitive to the elements like cold and windburn are seedling Dat's compared to Brugmansias?
Peace,
Nate

I have Daturas out in full sun still, they seem to be loving the heat and it cooked off most of the leaf fungi, the Brugs that had been in full sun until a couple of weeks ago were losing all leaves and turning yellow, had to move them into more shade.
After a really windy day the Brug leaves are usually shredded and brown, the Datura leaves look like they usually look. Even had a triple yellow get blown half out of it's pot, rather than tie it back in place I left it alone to see what would happen and now there are new branches growing from the base.

Other than the constant battle with leaf fungi during winter, the only problem I have with the Daturas is that they don't seem to handle being pot bound for too long, especially the single white inoxia/wrightii type. Mine form a bulbous knot right above or at the soil level and if they're left in the pot after that they don't really grow when moved out.

I think that daturas are hardier than brugs. My brugs have been out 24/7 going on 2 weeks and my datura seedlings have been out longer than that. They are mostly double datura varieties. Our nighttime temps are in the 50's though we've had a few nights dip into the 40's but all my plants are looking happy.

PS: Looking forward to meeting you at the swap tomorrow. I have an iochroma, passiflora, orange jasmine and voodoo lilies for you. I don't need 4 Gloriosa bulbs, 1 or 2 would be fine. If you have anymore of that weird yellow ginger can you bring that?
