A great find and a visitor

I got this great birdbath off of Freecycle last weekend. It's pretty old and the paint has peeled but I like the cement better and am going to let the rest of the paint peel away. Thank goodness the person who was giving it away loaded it into my car because it weighs well over 100 lb and is about 4 1/2 ft tall. I put a couple brugs on either side and still need to plant some flowers but the birds are already using it.

I went in the backyard this morning and heard a God awful noise, like a giant rubber band snapping. It turns out that it was a frog who has taken up residence in one of the tubs I use for my bog gardens. I guess I won't be cleaning it for a while. I don't know if he's found a GF yet to lay eggs in there or not. The water is pretty full of algae so it's difficult to see.

Hey, congrats on the great find...I love your birdbath! Sounds like aging has given it a lot of character.

Good luck on the frog pond! I hope you end up with a family. Madamqueensally (Sally) in Federal Way, WA has a big ol' boy very much like yours.

Karyn, 2 summers ago my X BF brought one home from a job site very similar to yours! Same type top but I think a thicker pedestal. I helped him get the two peices off his truck & set it up. Very HEAVY, but I don't think it was more than 4 ft high. Same white paint peeling off of concrete made it look antique.
Be careful it is anchored down good so it doesn't tip over & hurt someone!! Too bad it's at his house - I loved it.

Love the birdbath, Karyn, and the frog. I have so many in the big pond that they can get very loud at times. I had friends out about a week ago, and they wanted to know what the "awful sounding" noise was. They seem to like to converse with each other about the same time as you.

Yep, neato find, Karyn.....love the birdbath but they sure are heavy, neighbor has one.

Cute little visitor, too. Like Carrie, we have them down here around our pond and they make quite a racket at night!! There must be a million of them out there.

My frog decided to seek out greener pastures (pools). I almost miss his obnoxious croaking. lol Hopefully he will return along with some buddies. My husband put in a pond as one of my Mother's Day gifts. It's just a little kidney shaped one, no fountains but I love it and have been wanting one for years. I finally have a proper place for my lotus instead of the rubber buckets that were such an eyesore.

Like the birdbath...love the frog! We call our big handsome guy a Guard Frog. Wish we could get our froggies together for a visit My big guy has been in my back pond for about 4 years now. Luckily he stays with me each summer. Dont' know where he goes when the weather gets bad, but he comes back as soon as the weather warms up
