Brugs...you just gotta love them...

This is the time of year I appreciate my brugs the most. The spring bulb plants are gone...many of my perennials have gone by...the annuals are getting a little leggy... and here come the brugs...just dripping those beautiful blooms and making such a graceful, showy statement... their heavenly scents perfuming the evening air...

I just love these plants...

Thank you all for sharing your plants and your knowledge with me.

Agree, Kathy, brugs surely bring bunches of sunshine to one's day and their aroma is heavenly, especially at night. Our heat doesn't allow them to look their best right now but this fall they should be fantastic and I look forward to that.

I would agree, but no blooms here. We are supposed to have a break from the heat starting tomorrow night, so maybe mine will start setting buds. It's been a pretty colorless summer here and definitely no fragrance to speak of. I'm sure things will look up soon.

Actually, I can't complain about blooming because I've had far more this summer than most but some of the varieties look pretty awful while others don't look too bad. Either the foliage is withered or eaten away by the slugs, bugs, etc and the blooms are rather deformed or don't open completely.

Hopefully, soon, Shirley, you'll get a stretch of nice looking flushes before your weather turns cold.

Thanks Jarie. Tomorrow we are supposed to get a cool down with more rain. We have been getting rain this last week, but it comes with those hot summer storms. I've lost lots of leaves on brugs, have shredded leaves still on them, and what few blooms I had on Rubirosa, only lasted one day because of the storms. I'm looking forward to some weather that I can stay outside in and enjoy the yard. The 61 degree low one night will be nice too.

We're in the Chicago area right now and today it's drizzly and dreary with cooler temps. They keep talking about thunderstorms but I can't see where that's going to happen unless it changes drastically.

Now, Erin, on the other hand may dump some heavy rain on southern Texas but we're about 70 miles inland so the biggest brunt will probably happen around South Padre Island. I guess she's now just a tropical storm. I won't mind some rain to refresh my brugs so the neighbor doesn't have to water for me but I hope it isn't a deluge. Fingers crossed as I sit 1600+ miles away.

Have to ask....Is Grandma having fun?

You may still get rain in Chicago. They are calling for it to hit here this evening and tomorrow and it usually tracks right that direction.
