Bloom Activity

I just came in from watering the brugs. I took a rough tally & found about 32 plants either in bloom or budding up. Actually, of those 32, only about 9 currently have blooms open. All of these are either plants I've had upwards of 3 years or are cuttings with their first buds/blooms for me. None are the seedlings I'm growing out for Seed Sprout - they are growing well, but no signs of a Y yet. I believe our cooler-than-normal summer has kept their pace on the slow side.

A note on some older seedlings. I have 3 plants that are Frosty Pink X Unknown and 1 plant that is CG X Insignis Pink....1 plant of each cross has several buds getting ready to open. A Suaveolens white seedling has been opening a few flowers...all have shown quite a bit of green without turning pure white. Finally, I have 2 seedlings of Mtn. Magic X Unknown that are nice plants, but haven't quite given me a Y yet. I'm hoping for a long, warm fall.

When I get some more flowers to photograph, I'll add them to my album. Late summer & early fall is my primary bloom season here.

Oh...just remembered 1 I failed to put in my count! Allison gave me a potted cutting of a white Arborea which is finally starting to open its first bud. I love this plant's big velvety leaves & am so anxious to see/smell the blooms.

Congrats Patrick. You have more blooming in your cool climate than I have. It's been a wild ride this summer for the brugs. First the heat and then the cool, then back to the heat only without rains for weeks on end. Of course, that meant the spider mites had time to get a foot hold. After we had rains last week, the mite problem has lessened, but I'm sure they aren't gone. I'm crossing my fingers that we will have the kind of weather in Iowa that will give me one or two flushes of blooms before frost. We never know what will happen here. It would be nice to get something for all the work and expense the brugs have been this year. LOL! I hope you get tons of blooms before time to put them away for your winter.

How exciting, I can't wait to see all your plants' bloom photos and especially your arborea blooms. Gosh I haven't had a bloom in over a month now. I am really wishing I could smell one right now. I keep rubbing the foilage and smelling that LOL!
I really like velvety leaves too. I have a few seedlings that are so fuzzy that they collect every little hair and piece of dust. I practically have to lint roll them once a week :D

I spent a few hours yesterday peeling and planting a few new batches of seeds that I recieved. Can't wait to see what comes of them. Nothings blooming so I gotta do something lol.
