This is a new seedling. It came to me as Luminosa x ?, and now that it has bloomed, Monika thinks it is probably Luminosa x Whiskers. It definitely has some nice tendrils.
Culebra is so unusual...would certainly add a conversation piece to a brug collection.
I keep going back to look at the pic of your new seedling. Those lonnnnng tendrils give me goose bumps! My Whiskers has just opened a bloom (2nd one this year), so tomorrow I'm going to look at it carefully to compare against your pic.
Brugs just keep getting better & better.

I don't know how Culebra would do in Washington. She really likes the heat. Mine is in full sun...all day. This one is also very prone to mites. I nearly lost my first plant to mites and Kyle Courtney took it home and then he lost her. LOL! I didn't feel as bad since it didn't happen at my house. We have had some cooler nights now and she is already showing that she didn't like it by dropping leaves. Still....a cool looking brug.
Those tendrils are amazingly long and curly, very pretty. I've never seen a celubra (sp?) and don't think I'd realize that it was a brug if I did.

Tom, yesterday morning I pollinated Whiskers with pollen from Peanut. My poor little peanut plant is looking good, but has had a rough start in life. As a cutting, it barely made it thru the winter. The stem died back and the 11th hour, a tiny shoot emerged from the soil. When I thought it was safe to put it outdoors (after most of the others), it lived on my back porch for awhile, then I moved it to a picnic table on the north side of porch where it was up off the ground, safe from slugs, etc., & protected from the wind. Well! A couple of slugs climbed the legs of the table and just trashed the leaves! I hunted down & zapped the slugs and eventually, the plant grew new leaves. She's still very small, but she's looking very good. She has 1 bloom sticking over the side of the pot and a number of small buds coming along. I think I'm going to let her spend the winter indoors.

Your pictures are wonderful. What program are you using to put the names on them? My MEM didn't grow well, but it looks so much like Painted Lady that I'm not going to lose sleep over it.
Thanks, Shirley. My pics are stored on my hard drive and when double-clicked, they open in Paint Shop Pro, version 7. I'm current using the Text feature there, altho I sometimes add text in a couple other programs I have.

Thanks, Patrick. I had to give that program up when I bought a new computer packed with Vista. I do have a program called Paint.net that I use sometimes. Generally I'm lazy and go to Irfanview, but I like the text in the same color as the flower. Makes it look a bit more classy.
The brug with the long tendrils will be composted. It didn't pass the hot weather test. I'll go out and soak the ground again tonight in case it was lack of water that caused her to wilt so badly.
I have a Luminosa x Charlton (#13) cross that is a huge bloom with long tendrils. The first image was the first day as it was opening, the second image was today ( 4 days later).I have to climb a ladder to get my 'face on' images on this one LOL....
Patrick you're making me jealous with those MEM pictures. I recieved a very small cutting in bad shape a while back and I've been slowly trying to nurse it back. Looks like it's not going to make it though after being left for a couple weeks with a relative while I was on vacation.
Tom, when I can get a cutting off MEM, you're welcome to it. She's an odd shaped plant - not much stem material above the Y so far, but I think a cutting will be possible in a month or so.
