A Few New Blooms, but still pink.....

I can't seem to get anything much to bloom that isn't pink. The one orangish one is a Pumpkin bloom, the first morning open. The rest are labeled. Excuse all the dead cottonwood leaves. Fall has arrived in Iowa.

All very pretty! I'm very attracted to the way Rosalie has flushed all along her branches, rather than just near the ends. I'm also a fan of horizontal-to-nodding flower positions.

Thanks you guys. Patrick, that blooming trait must come from Rothkirch. It seems to bloom the same way. I do, however, like the way that Harlot blooms with clusters of flowers. I also like the nodding blooms. I like to be able to see inside them easily. Many of the new ones that I have are all pendant. That's great if the plant is ten feet tall and I can walk under the blooms, but they don't always grow that way. LOL!

I just wish there was a way that I could have every single brug that I've fallen in love with over the years, but that would take a huge move south...way south. It would be nice to not have to deal with potted plants all the time.

Shirley, they're gorgeous - especially the Pumpkin and the Luminosa x Whiskers. I'm really into orange this year. I guess 'cause all I have blooming are peach, white and pink...

I don't really mind growing the brugs mostly in pots, though. It gives me a chance to move some of the smaller blooming ones into spaces in my gardens left by spent perennials. - Sort of fill-in-the-garden-blanks. 'Know what I mean?

They are beautiful. The Rothkirch is especially pretty. You complain about all the pink and I complain that I don't have enough pink. lol Almost everything that's been blooming in my yard has been yellow to orange.

Oh, my, such beauty, and such healthy plants. Mine have really suffered since I was gone so much. They really do not like to have fertilizer withheld from them. Since pink ones are my favorite, I really enjoyed these, Shirley. My Daydreams has buds, and I can hardly wait for them to open. Thanks for sharing these with us ----------- !!!!!!

Shirley, I agree completely. But don't head too far south to get away from the pots, the bugs and heat make having too many even more of a burden than just having to keep them in pots. From this side, I'm looking northward thinking that even just 1 zone up would be better, lol.

Thanks everyone. It's going to be sad here by the end of the week. Most blooms will be gone. Maybe I'll get some work done then.

Gorgeous photos Shirley. You sure do have lots of pink ones this year. They are all so pretty and girly looking. I really love your Pumpkin and Luminosa x Whiskers. I went a little crazy for the oranges this year. I bought NOL, Naughty Nick, Seminole Moon and a few others. I was hoping they would all be blooming by now but it has been such a horrid sumer....

I'm with Lynne about the heat. I would prefer a few zones cooler too. We are just now getting out of the hundreds here! Our nights have been cooling down into the 70's and 80's at least. The brugs are kicked back outdoors and have all started major growth spurts. I really do believe that they enjoy cooler nights and do stop growing when night temps are consistently in the 100's. I observed that with All my brugs this year. In the sunset zone book, it says, zone 13 has 3 mos of growth stopping heat in the summer for tropicals, and it did exactly that. The bananas and other tropicals were the same way. Guess I never realized that tropicals had a heat limit- knew they have a cold limit. Humidity sure makes a big difference too.
