Hello everyone: Just joined this forum this a.m. Heard such nice things about it, I'm really looking forward to "meeting" you. I am new to the beautiful world of Brugs. Someone was kind enough to send me a few cuttings last winter and life has not been the same since. Fell in luv with these plants and have been like a woman on a mission to grow and collect some of these beauties.<G> I'm in SO CALI and last winter we had an unexpected and unusual freeze so some of the poor things didn't make it (not just the fault of the weather, but this novice didn't always know what she was doing!!) And then recently came a terrible heat wave. But these plants really hanging in there; they want to grow, and I want to learn, so please forgive all the questions I might be asking. TIA for all the advice I know I'm going to get and appreciate. Gloria

Hello, and welcome from a relative novice! I have only had mine for two years now, and already am addicted. What part of So Cal are you from? I used to live a block from the first off ramp of 10 after it crossed 405!
Gloria, WELCOME! This is a great place to be if you have been bitten by the brug bug. There are so many knowledgeable people on this forum...Enjoy and ask away!
Hi, Gloria ---- to this wacky world of brug nuts. We have a lot of fun on here, while learning so much. Stay tuned, and chime in when you feel like it.
Hi Gloria, welcome to the forum. Glad to have you here.
It sounds like you had the same kind of weather situation this year that I had here. We normally don't freeze at all but last winter we sure did. So my brugs were cut back and put into the garage. Then in the spring some grew back enough to bloom but some didn't. Then summer came early and stayed above 110 and even into 120's. The night temps even stayed well above 100-105. The brugs, bananas and some other tropicals quit growing completely and just sorta sat there! Now that we are staying out of the 100's with nights in the 70's-80's they are finally setting buds. It has been the worst year for brugs for me and I am not even gonna get started on the insect invasions lol. It is nice to have a forum of understanding people who can help when you have questions.
Thanks very much for all the warm and friendly welcomes to this great forum. I am so looking forward to reading, and chatting the discussions. Feel as tho I've already learned a few new things about Brugs. For those who asked: I'm in the LA area ... San Gabriel Valley ... Pasadena area. Very hot, Very dry!! I think it is zone 9. Gloria
