Brug seeds and aphids

No, I don't have aphids on my brug seeds! Two seperate questions.

First off, I just got some brug seeds from a swap, any tips on getting them to germinate? Is it simular to Daturas? Keep em warm and moist?

Second, I just noticed yesterday that my 2 brugs I brought indoors a couple weeks ago are now covered in aphids! (the brugs are young, cuttings started this summer) How do you suggest I deal w/ them? I checked them over really well when I brought them in, and there was no sign of them then...

Thanks,
Karri

This thread has good information on it for planting seeds.

If you can take your plants outside when it is warm enough and blast them with the water hose, that will take care of the aphids. I use Merit and I think Sevin will also get rid of them, but safest is water. Just be sure to tip the plant and get under the leaves too.

I agree with Shirley, a good blast from the hose works well. During the summer I buy thousands of ladybugs and they do a great job of keeping the aphids in check.

Since they're indoors, perhaps it would be easier to squish the aphids?
Aphids give birth rather than laying eggs, so once they're all gone you shouldn't have to worry about new babies popping out unless a new mother flies in.
