PLEASE tell me a pod will grow on a cutting. I was stripping a stem for cutting to go ship today& found a POD formed in the clayx hidden from me.I scared my neighbor with jumping...she thought I'd seen a snake& was running across yard with her mop in her housecoat.I'm glad she's not one to think I'm nuts.she's just like'so thats what the seed pod looks like...and that will grow you different plants?oh like those lost tagged ones your dog contributed to me!Well I'm glad your not being eaten or attacked over here' Its on unknown pink crossed with Betty Marshall.I think I love cold fronts now as long as brugs are blooming.I've got a cold front here for 2-3 days some nice 40s at night& I'm gonna play some more.
My other question is....if I did 4 flowers that same night& I had thought one was forming but seems to just stay that same size....it proably didn't take?or keep watching it?
I got my new camera today too.I can't wait to play with it.I've took 9 picures so far. That was took with old one.
so it WILL grow rooting in water?
To ignore it...I better move it in game room. Its the room I go least in.I'm glad a cold front is here again...I can play some more It was really unexpected...I been pokeing pollen all summer& just expected the same results.
yeah...definately better than new camera.I've had a new camera 3 times now.1st time for a POD of my own
I took a cutting from a Butterfly and didn't realize that a seed pod was forming It's still very small and I seriously doubt it will mature but I'll give it a try. I didn't even think to feel the old calyxes when I was cutting it back yesterday. The plants that I brought in to allow the seed pods to mature dropped their buds but the pods are holding fine. WTG on the new camera. What did you end up getting?
Karyn
It probably will drop off, but since I said this, maybe it will prove me wrong. LOL! I've never had one hold in water. It's too bad you didn't notice it before you made cuttings from that piece.
Well I've got brugs I've dug to put in the GH to play with.some have not 'y'd.
Jamicia yellow- Y& budding& holding buds
Knightti-no Y-3 trunks
Bolero x AQ-my dropping disaster she was dug with 19 buds& held them for 4 days.we had wind yesterday so 4 blew off(but when we have dropped 18...I'll have a bloom
4 white suav seedlings unknown 2nd yr.dug originals
Creamsickle-2 buds
Cypress gardens-no Y
the older charles G plant
Rosa turuam-no Y
Martha stewert-no Y(jarie said she ws YELLOW so she had to come in)
I've had a sunray potted most of summer,so that pot will be up pottted.
I'll proably add 1 of the Jean pasco's& pink perfektion-no Y
I'll defineatly have my 12x12 GH stuffed.I DID warn him durring building I may an addition added.
My pods in kitchen
And I won't look at her....she's set as background on desktop to look athttp://www.network54.com/Realm/Bobky/rotfl.gif
Camera I went with is a Polaroid 6.0 Mega pixel i633
has auto flash
1x-3x optical zoom(which works in video mode!)
1.2x-4x digital zoom
2.4 TFT color image monitor(its flush with the camera, where my sony was inset slightly.I won't use the camera case it came with.I don't want my screen marked.
has built in 16 MB memory(so if you forget to replace card...your moment is not lost!)
has dial in capture modes
I got on special for $89 at geeks...and got a free camera kit includeing a tripod,a USB card reader 2.0& a 1GB SD card(sis tells me Brother has a 2GB sd card...he don't use.I'll be so sweet to him this christmas, hes got a cordless keyboard mouse set I want too)
I've got to play more with my night options and read some more in book.My stuff seems to white& not true like with sony.If the spot is totally completely dark it seems to capture better than if security light is on behind me(but can easily flip a breaker to fix that!)I did buy new batterys for my charger& these charge in 30 minutes not 6 hours.I played with pollinateing last more than camera.I hate to miss NCIS& The Unit(which I miss watching 2 episodes of The Unit now with Kane starting.I think they should drop Kane& bring that 2nd episode of The Unit back)
I got to say...Geeks.com is a good place for purchaseing computer related items. They always got something good on sale& have great service.when you go to need something...better check them out. They saved me from spending $135& I came out better cause of the free camera kit.I now have 3 card readers, but got a tripod(which i've never had)and saved $30 buy getting their SD card instead of buying one for $60 at walmart. My brother purchases alot from them so he's in a program where for $10 a month he saves the $10 a month PLUS an exra 10%& gets other discounts too boot and special sales.
sorry I got long winded...I got to go check Jaries pics out!
Good luck with pod Hope. I can't wait to be a mommy to a new brug one day. Glad you showed a pic so I know what to watch for next year. Since I only have one that is blooming size I shouldn't have to worry about getting a seed pod yet right?
Martha Stewart (unregistered) reminds me of Dr. Seuss and Charles Grimaldi quite a bit. I'm sure it has some of their genes. I cut it back some because it was growing tall and I'd like to have it branch out a little more next year. We'll see what happens.
The one I have in a container is much too large for me now, so I am taking some cuttings for inground planting next Spring, and giving her to Colleen when she comes to the "cutting ceremony" Saturday. She is a heavy bloomer for me, and I thank my friend, Johnnie, for her.
Carrie
I'd already looked trying to see who martha's parents we're so had figured was unregistered...so do you know the cross?I'd love to see your pics of her.I've wanted a good yellow& Sunray has not performed yet to know
Jarie I love the yellow of that.Is that the fall or summer color?
Martha will be dug,but will leave the shorter one
I think my pod was crossed Oct 24th or 25th I was still playing before that, but thats when started waiting 2 days open before grabbing pollen.but am listening to sis now...I'm doing the method I use for lost fishing lures.Take a picture and mark on calender. I don't think the one I had been watching on plant is going to DO more than its doing.
soo..how COOL do my temps have to be& does humidity play a part as well?
how long does a suav pod form to its size& how long till it matures?
how long a insignis pod form& mature?
I'm still playing with camera.I played with settings for night shots and figured can use landscape& looks very true.I'm cleaning in flowerbeds too.today is the fun part...cutting whats bloomed off october rose hibiscus& can't find any gloves(but will gladly use the welding ones...lol)I'm takeing its stems to woods for letting the seeds grow down my trial of a road.
I have a large milk container full of formosa lilly seeds if anyone wants any.I can send a bunch.
I've never been for sure, but have thought my unknown pink was insignis. It has a strong smell& is my best bloomer...it fineally has a smell compition with Betty Marshall
You know, Joy, I usually date my pictures but this one I didn't but I'm thinking it may have been a September shot. I do have one dated mid July and it's a much lighter yellow than this one. Martha was a new brug cutting sent by Carrie so it didn't start blooming til this past summer. I'm hoping that by cutting it back, it will fill out more by next summer.
Carrie,I'd like to see a logees orange plant shot too.You had none in your albulm& the web is stingy with pictures of it.Logee's is no longer selling it.It just seems to me to look very close to Jean Pasco, but still have some time till that bud is old enough to bloom...(weather holding of course.)I don't get to see the bloom any longer as the dog knocked it off as he decided to drink from my pond instead of his water bowl. Its proably going to come in GH as well.I got to see the bloom for 3 days.
And good luck with your get together.wish I could go,but hate long drives. My christmas one will drive me nuts.Hubby don't like pee breaks...lol He goes for gas fill ups easier than those.I could never make it past misquete from Lake Fork when going to Plano...lol
pods still holding
Its so nice out today.
Jarie,I'm hopeing now that Martha will hurry up and do her thing.I like that yellow..I might dig both...I need to take them out of box planter& I'm sure them cannas are crowding them too.
Joy, my Logee's Orange from Carrie can be anywhere from medium bright yellow to more orangy, I suppose mainly due to temperature. I have some shots of it if Carrie can't find any. The blooms on LO are smaller than say Dr. Seuss, Martha, or CG but they are pretty that way...something a bit different. I find Logee's Orange and Miami Orange Glow (from Michele) to be similar in color and size. Leaves are smaller than many brugs, too, and they are extremely similar with a slight soft fuzzy feel.
someone mentioned in description that it got the outer edge reddishness,But I won't know that now.I have a friend in FL who has the miami glow, but she says it performs poorly when its hot,but I did find it looked very similar to Jean Pasco, just not as wide a bloom when open& was a GH shot(so the bloom was a dark orange).I agree the flower seemed small, plants small too at the moment...lol I don't know WHY my dog prefers water thats not fresh
Martha has a 'y' So I'm gonna dig her in the morning.I've been duct tape ripping thorns/glonchoes from hands.I trimmed my october rose& was not too careful stuffing her in can for a trip down the hill (which will look great next year)I would be happy if winter was like today well minus the bees.they kept takeing over my drink.
i'll look your albulm tomorrow.I'm going to start dinner.
Carrie and Patrick have been busy with the cutting gathering they had a Carrie's house on Saturday, chasing down fried okra and sampling Texas cuisine so I told her I'd post a picture of Logee's Orange from the cuttings she sent me last winter.
