Noid and not Grand Marnier

Here's a brug that gets very little mention but I'm finding to be a really pretty one. It's planted near my patio, has bright white blooms and a nice fragrance. Right now it's about 3-4 feet tall with nice branching.

This noid bloomed a couple of times during the summer but was never anything that really stood out until this last flush. Now it really has my attention. Just thought I'd share it with you.

Jarie, was it white in the summer too???? The reason I ask is because there are only 2 Grand Marnier that I know of and they bloom
-one pink and
-one apricot,
there is no white one to my knowledge.

That's very pretty Jarie. Ruth Ann it's funny that you said that because I was wondering why it was named Grand Marnier. I thought that maybe it had an orangy scent. lol

Hmm, a noid and not Grand Marnier. Was sent to me as Grand Marnier. No, has always been pretty white with no color the few times it bloomed. These photos were taken in July, one early July and the other in late July. One is a bit creamy but not much. Could have been the lighting.

Will scrap the GM and call it a noid. It can't be the difference in the climate/soil to make it white and not peachy. Thanks for the comments to help straighten it out. It's a good thing I posted it and thank goodness, I've not sent it along to anyone else.

Started wondering last night after reading the comments from Ruth Ann and Karyn (again, thank you gals), if that might have been a cross with Grand Mariner that simply turned out white as many crosses do. I received the cutting from one of our members last winter who I'm sure did not mislabel it intentionally. I definitley won't consider it Grand Mariner anymore but it is a very pretty NOID white and I'll be leaving it where it is.

Thanks for the generous offer, Mike, but I really need to digest all that I have coming thus far before adding anything new. GM wasn't something I sought out but was included in another set of cuttings that Michele offered me. Do any of you have GM in your collection?

I believe it was named after the color of the liqueur 'Grand Marnier so remembering that may help us both spell it. correctly.

Well, part of the mystery is solved. Michele, in Florida is the one who sent me this plant and in her album (just looked back at it) she has it spelled Grand Mariner and not Grand Marnier. I guess that's why I've been spelling it Mariner. Once I get something in my head it stays there....well most of the time anyway. Now the photo is difficult to see because it's so small so can't tell the color.

Mike, thanks for the offer of a Grand Marnier. Will take you up on it.

No problem Jarie! Just remind me when the time comes. By then - one of the two should be big enough to cut! And if all goes well - maybe a small plant will be coming your way!

Mike

Jarie
I remember seeing the one Michele refered to as Grand Marnier (she called it Mariner too!) and it was white! It was pretting though and looks like yours. I have not seen her in awhile--will have to try to give her a call. The New Orleans Lady I got from seedsprout lost almost all its buds on the trip here but it has 1 about to bloom! YIPPEE! and Tootsie also has a couple buds left so hope I will see blooms on it as well. I need to get out and mulch the plants in the ground SOON--will do that as soon as the back permits.

Linda, when you call Michelle, tell her we miss her and she should start posting again. The Ecuador Pink I received from her several years ago is one my best bloomers now, and is still in full bloom. I do hope her health is okay.

Thanks, Mike, will try to remember that when the time comes.

Linda, hope that you're feeling better and when you call Michele be sure to tell her we miss her and to come back soon. I'm sure she's busy around that "pretty place" of hers.
