I've been out massacreing today. as I was stripping leaves down stem....I found another POD!!!!
Its on Whiskers x Butterfly seedling. Unknown cross.could have been bees, hummer moths, those green lady bug looking things. Or I may have dabbed. I've had Betty Marshall/Dr suess/Charles g/unknown pink blooming& logees orange (but I dabbed that pollen n unknown pink) THAT was some dig getting it out of ground. Its 4 years old. should be fun manuvering& twisting it in doors on GH.

I'm glad I caught THIS one,but wasn't a planned dig.

I think them slideing doors are 36 inches?....plants WIDER than that.

I'm glad found the pod 1st& didn't cut it yet. My other pod is still hanging.I can ignore it better now

Thanks Jason.I hope to have the same luck in GH.I just might have trouble walking in there is all....

I've decided it will be easier to remove the slideing doors...to get the plant in and looks like will have to rearrange my ceiling area plants again

Can someone who knows the pod bussiness better than me tell if it looks like it could have been made oct 26? I found I wrote dates on calender in kitchen. I played on Oct 30th too,but those are already cut now. I didn't even remember writeing the dates...SIL remembered. She thinks I dabbed Betty on the seedling cause ran out of flowers to dab that night of the dabbing party (which was earlier in month of oct)
Can I write on pod with marker?

wish weatherman would make his mind up...said mid 30s...then upper 30s& now its mid 40s. Weather alamac said was calling for mildest winter in 100 yrs & weather guy says we will have a cold wet winter& will set cold records.

You might want to develop the habit of picking up the marker, tags, alcohol, and paintbrushes all at the same time. I remember a couple of times saying to myself that I would remember................didn't happen. I made several crosses on Charleston this fall and I've lost every one of them. I think she doesn't like to hold pods and be cold at the same time.

Tip: Most people always have a chunk of florist's clay around. I use it after I wash the pollen out of my brushes with alcohol, to stick the handle of the brush in to hold it up for drying.

What a pretty pod! I hope to have one next year so I can quit being jealous, lol. My daughter is here for the week and hogging the computer. I need to get a wireless card for the other one so I don't have to share before she comes back for Christmas, lol. I bought the other laptop used and they said it had an internal card but if it does I can't get it to work. Maybe its not enabled. I have no idea how to do it. Got everything in the house or garage except the lemon tree and my one year old brug in the big pot. Gotta wait for hubby to get home and bring them in with the dolly. Got some florscent shop lights for the garage I have to get put up on Friday I hope.

We got it inside. Had to twist it in,was easier than removeing plants from a shelf& 6 in front of it and bags of soil. I still ended up moveing the plants from in front of shelf....but was to get the plant untangled from spider plant babies.

I need some of those white tags lake Carrie uses. I've cut a few of the milk jug tops in pieces to use for now with my green wire. I have some brushes,I just have to come back across them. I found my 4 way anlyzer today, strangely in turkey pan. No idea why it was there either.

Glad you got it inside without damaging it. Guess what I got! We went to my husbands friends house for dinner and his Mom had 2 plumeria about 6 or 7 feet tall with pods on them and she didn't have room to bring them inside. She was going to leave them outside to see if they would survive. She planted one really huge one in the ground last year and it died so I knew these would never make it in a pot. I told her I would bring them home and let the seed pods mature and take some cuttings and give her back the mother plant in the spring so I have both of them. Thats all that would fit in the truck. There is one more that someone said they would come build a shelter for and if they don't do it by next week I will get that one too! The largest 2 seedpods blew off on the ride home but I found them in the bed of the truck and there are 2 more still attached. Does anyone know if I can do anything with the large green pods that fell off? They are from a small white flower variety. The other one is pink and the one she still has is yellow and white. She has duplicates of these that are smaller that she is keeping. She roots hers in water. Has anyone ever heard of this before? They all have big fat trunks.

Kristy, first of all, I have never rooted plumeria in water. In fact, too much water will cause them to rot. I root mine in soil, add only a small amount of water periodically but never let it stand wet. The least amount of water the better while rooting them. They do take some time to root so be patient. Often leaves will grow before roots appear.

As for the seed pods. Plumeria pods take about 8-9 mos to ripen and should do so on the plant. I don't think the one that fell off will be good but you can hang on to it and see what happens. Maybe someone else can tell you whether or not it will be viable. I've never tried to grow any from seed but know others who have.

Good luck with them and so glad you rescued them from a sure demise.

Thanks Jarie. I have rooted cuttings before but always in potting soil with minimal water. I was shocked when she told me she rooted them in water but she has a garage full and she says she did them all that way. Thats why she didn't have room to take in the bigger ones. I think I'll stick with my own method with my luck they would rot. She just has an incredible green thumb. She says after they have roots in the glass she puts good size rocks in the bottom of a pot and regular top soil and rarely fertilizes them and they bloom like crazy all year. I pamper mine and never get blooms til later in the fall...sigh! One guy that was there told her he would come build a little shelter with wood and clear plastic but I don't thing even that will be enough to keep it from freezing. I took cuttings of that one just in case, lol.

Kristy, a couple of winters ago we lost two very large plumeria because of a freeze. When they freeze, the turn black from the tips down. We had to replace both of them. It was only below freezing for a few hours two night in a row and the temps in between were in the upper 60's. We could have left the roots in the ground and they would have come back (others in the neighborhood did) but I had some in pots that were ready to go into the ground anyway so figured they were farther along. You were wise in taking cutting just in case.

I always have some in pots just in case that happens.

I am thinking about going to get the last plant. I know its going to die. I took mine outside last year just before Easter since we were having such nice weather and got up one morning and it was sleeting. I brought them right back in but the tips still rotted and had to cut them back. That was when we got the freak snow storm.

I am still drooling over your greenhouse pics. We drove through that little town on 79 near Henderson and I saw all those greenhouses on both sides of the road again and so many not being used or the nursery up for sale. I wish I had room to put one of those giant things in my yard. I spotted 3 more brugs in peoples yards near there also. One not in bloom and 2 houses right next door to each other with yellow ones blooming. That is my new road trip game for that area when I have to travel through it. How many brugs can I spot at 70mph and in the rain today, lol. They grow a lot of brugs in North East Texas I guess. Last weekend and this weekend are the only ones I have seen other my one in 7 years. I plan to change that in this town, lol. Everyone needs about 10 of them in the yard, lol.
