I am curious to know if anyone here grows brug inca sun. I see it in Logee's catalog but never see any posts about it. It sounds so different than all the others. Does it really flower continuously?
My thought is, if it's truly so great why aren't people raving about?
Meanwhile, my 3 brugs (2 CG and 1 white NOID from Jarie) are growing strong and I'm hoping for blooms this summer.
Right now there is still tons of snow outside, but soon......
Last year was my first year with Inca Sun, it started to bloom at 2 feet and bloomed all summer. It never got taller than 3 feet. The blooms are smaller than a lot of brugs. If I remember correctly about 5-6 inches long. Inca Sun is a good brug for a patio pot because of its size.
Hope this helps
Sally
Thanks for the response. It sounds like a very nice plant but it doesn't seem like too many people have it. Also, Logees seems to be the only vender that carries it.
Hi: I asked about Inca Sun a few months ago. I so want this little Brug, but I only see it in Logees catalog and it seems a bit pricey for the size! When I posted questions about the Brug, I learned from this forum that it has a tendency toward Stem Blight/Stranglebrand.
Despite this, I would still like to grow one, so if you find another source please share the info. Hope we can get this Brug. It seems like a real bloomer!

I'm under the impression that Logees has a patent on this brug. I've been growing several noid (pink, orange) brugs, Jean Pasco and a sunset brug for 3-4 years. Patrick sent me some cuttings last fall of several white brugs. I just bought Miners Claim from Logees the other day. I'm thinking that is enough. I grow lots of different kinds of plants and don't want to find myself with a garden of just brugs. I love all flowers and many plants for there leaves.
Logees doesn't have a patent on this brug that I know of. It costs around $5000 to patent a brug and it's rare that it's ever done. My friend Kyle Courtney hybridized this one and gave it to Logees to sell. I had it in 2003 before it was released and will say that it did bloom well, but it wasn't a small plant for me. It was probably five foot tall and just about as wide and in this picture, it's in a 20 gallon pot. The second year, it came down with SB early in the summer and I had to destroy it. I liked that it bloomed well, but the color of the blooms didn't make my heart flip like some do. It appears to have a lot of suaveolens in it.
I don't think they do have a patent Sally. The whole idea of the patent is to prevent propagation, so you will almost always see them mention the patent wherever the plant is legitimately for sale.
Thanks for telling me, not sure why I thought that. Shirley mine was grown in a much smaller container, maybe 3 gallon. I'm sure that had something to do with the size. I don't know that I could move a 20 gallon pot.
I'm eager for spring.
I'll have to keep that in mind, I didn't know she was so prone to viruses, I just got a cutting this last fall. If anyone's still interested in spite of this, I'm sure I'll have cuttings sometime this year. She's still small so it probably won't be until fall.
Does anyone know if there are any conditions that bring on the virus? Like excess heat in the case of sangs & other montane spp.?
Hi John, I wouldn't mind getting a cutting. Sounds like it's a nice plant. So far I have 3 young plants that I'm hoping will bloom for me this summer, they are 2 CG and 1 white NOID. If you would like a cutting let me know.
Hi Theresa & Gloria, I've got you both on my "list". It sounds like Sally will have cuttings this fall too, so even if they don't get very big we should both have @ least a few cuttings I would think.
