It's in the 30's and windy and cold , but in my greenhouse that I just opened a few days ago, Pink Beauty by way of Patrick is in the process of opening her first blossom. I am thrilled. It may be on a short cutting but it's the start of a new brug year. YEAH!
I'm doing the happy dance.
Sally, that's fantastic. Pink Beauty is a beauty, too...mine has just had a ton of blooms. It's great to hear that "northerners" are starting to see some color. There's more to come as the days warm up. I know you're hoping it's sooner rather than later.
I am getting ready to take mine out of storage, and today when I looked in the plant room, I saw a bloom on a rather large trunk cutting of Aurea Pink ... think it may be ready to go in the ground. There were also two yellow blooms on one in the corner that I have no idea what it is until I move them out. Tomorrow is the day I start --- MN willing !!!
Hope it's soon, Theresa...such a joy seeing that first bloom of the season.
Carrie, my fingers are crossed for you that tomorrow will be the day. Let us know what yellows are in bloom when you drag them out.
See.....farther north, it's thawing out. Pretty soon, those of you in CT, IA, IL, etc. will be crowing about your brug blooms. CAN'T WAIT!! Don't forget the pictures, too, as it happens.
Hi Kathy and anyone else, I use a small milk house heater. If it is going to get really cold I can turn on a propane heater, but that is really to much heat. The propane will keep it warm in January, but I don't use it in January...to pricey.
