Which of your brugs has your favorite leaves?

Maybe I should ask that, excluding the variegated brugs? My question is really more about leaf size, shape, texture, hairiness, etc.

I s'pose my favorite will change over time, but right now I give the #1 rating to Miami Orange Glow. The flowers are nothing to dismiss either, but I love the leaves because they are not only "toothy" in the immature stages, but they stay that way even as the leaves get older.

A close #2 rating goes to Whiskers - another "toothy" leaved brug. I also find this brug to be prolific - currently sending up several basal shoots.

I could go on about other brugs I love for other reasons, but I'll stick to just the favorite leaf topic for now. Tell us about your's!

Never really thought that much about the leaves, Patrick, except when they turn yellow or get bugs (grin). I know that Aurea Pink has the largest leaves of all my brugs so when she loses one, it leaves a hole.

I like the saw-toothed leaves the best, I had one that was especially serrated but had to dispose of it. ( a seedling)

I also have a seedling with hugely wide ovate leaves and they really stand out.
This is my hand on one of those leaves.....

Both those leaves are very impressive, RA. I'd love to see a "keeper" turn up with sawtooth leaves like that 1rst one. I hope that one has some siblings out there, passing those genes along.

I was blown away last year when I saw how big seedling leaves can become. I don't think any of mine matched your's for size, but I know I had a few that were close. A few of the overwintered seedlings have produced large leaves again this year.

Probably the vulc seedling! LOL! I guess it's a toss-up between 'Culebra', just about any of the Sphaerocarpiums & the really serrated lowland varieties. All of my serrates are seedlings too, I'm still hoping Whiskers x ? will finally bloom this year. Maybe I should just get 'Whiskers', I know her leaves are pretty serrated.
And of course we all love the variegated Brugs, right? Hey, does anybody here have any reverse variegates?
