My new vulcanicola seedling!

I just got this little gal last week from the Bay area. It was grown from seed collected by Dan Newman in the highlands of Ecuador. I'm presently stuck with a camera phone, so please pardon the mediocre pics.

In this 3rd pic you can see the serpent- or whip-like habit of the shoots coming off the main stem.

In these last 3 pics you can see the serration, which seems to be much sharper than sanguinea in my experience.

This last photo was taken by Walter Teague, it is either the mother of my seedling or a nearby next-of-kin. I imagine I'll be drooling over it for months while I wait for mine to bloom.

Those are some good looking seedlings! I've gotten to see pics of at least 5 seedlings from this batch now & it's really interesting how different the growth habits are, some grow pretty much upright & some have the more windy, whip-like branches.
Did anyone who grew your seeds out notice any similar growth habit?

I got on also.. The one I got looked like Twisted Sister...LOL I wasn't sure about it .. It had one branch that I tucked in the soil and now it is already sprouting new leaves hopefully rooting ..Now it has 3 trunks.. These were Beautiful plants and Dan was Awesome to work with!!!! Just hope I can get it to bloom!

That's great, Kylie! I hope the branch is rooting for you! I'm going to attempt to air-layer the unruly lower sprouts, though it looks as if she's getting ready to make more... If I can bend any of them down far enough I may try regular layering or I could use a small pot... I also stripped off some of the larger old leaves & she seems to be responding well to that.
How did she look like Twisted Sister, Kylie?
