I had a horrible summer in 2008. The bugs nearly drove me to drink. On top of that we had more wind that we have ever had and each time I was about to have a nice flush...here came the wind. I finally gave up, sent my brugs (all but about 5 or 6) home with my daughter, and decided that I might have to take a break from them until we get moved into town where it is more protected. We don't flood here, but the top of a windy hill is hard on flowers. LOL! These are about all the pictures I got from my brugs last summer. I hope I am remembering how to do this. Photobucket has changed since I was there last. It was, however, a wonderful year for my daylilies.
The first and last ones are Rosalao. The second and third are Super Rose and the white one is an Arborea.
You still get the prettiest blooms, Shirley. I know how damaging the wind can be and I have to put my container ones in a sheltered environment. The inground ones are inside the fence and get SOME protection. I can hardly wait to get them outside again and see those beautiful blooms. Harlot bloomed all winter in the plant room.
It is wonderful to hear from you, I am sure you have chosen 6 nice ones to keep. As always your pictures are beautiful. Something to aspire too.
Hope your future move in to town goes well.
Sally
check out my temp. Woo Hoo!!!!!
Sally, I hope you can keep those temps around for a while. Bet it feels almost like tee shirt weather.
Carrie, Harlot is such a pretty brug. I have lost mine two years ago. I missed her. One day, I'll get her back again. I bet you really enjoyed having the blooms inside. The fragrance is what I miss most during the winter.
A start would be welcome. I have the perfect place for it. Thanks so much. Carrie...your temp at 10:45 PM looks great. I'd take 74 anytime. We are at 43 right now and it's still raining. With some luck, tonight will be the last of it for a while, but we are going into the freezer again Wed. or Thursday.
I can't tell you how good it makes me feel to be outside from early until late, but that is going to change beginning tomorrow. Your deep freeze will be a cool front for us and we may see some 30's again. Just hopefully, not a freeze. Almost all of my perennials are leafed out and many are blooming.
You are so lucky to live further south and have plants blooming already. It's not pretty here. Brown is the dominate color right now, tho there is a lot of light gray in the skies today. Visibility is probably no more than 1/8th of a mile right now. The bad thing is....I have to go to town in a couple of hours. I hope the fog lifts by then.
Carrie, are you using your camera to capture the spring color?
Oh, Shirley, I thought today (cloudy as it was), I should stop what I am doing and take photos of these before the rain ruins some of the blooms, but alas, I did not. If I get a break tomorrow, I will do that. My redbud has never been so pretty - think it must like the drought, and my Lady Banks are beginning to open now.
Beautiful pics, Shirley. My Harlot has been one of my best performers, too. I have a 2nd one that lives at my sister's house each summer, along with a Day Dreams. She loves the pink brugs and these two have done very well for her. I'm sure Carrie or I can get you reconnected with Harlot any time you wish.

SeaTac, WA...one cool place
Shirley, Your brugs are gorgeous. I love that Super Rose. I would hate to have to give up most of my plants, I have a hard time parting with one. LOL That will all have to change because I have seedlings this year & I will have to be ruthless.
