Hello all, just wanted to introduce myself on the forums as I just started an account. Ive been growing brugs for 2 years and going into my 3rd year.
Glad to see that there are more people who love these plants to discuss things with. Hope to talk to you soon!
Thomas
Now ive only got one, lost most to the cold this year. I have a New Orleans Lady that is about 6-7 feet tall so when spring comes I will take cuttings of it and have lots of NOL plants. I guess if i had to choose one to keep out of the 15 I had it would be that one.
I did have Ludger's Summer Dream, Miss Emily Mckenzie, Jean Pasko and few hybrids I grew from seeds generously given to me and some no IDs.
Hopefully I can get another collection going since Ive now got a better overwintering spot for winter 09-10. A gardening friend of mine has a greenhouse and said I could overwinter them there if I wanted.Definitely better than in my cold garage with a lousy heater that barely kept it above 40 most of the winter.
I'm actually sort of shocked my NOL made it, maybe since it was the biggest plant?I dont know.

NOL is a beauty, Thomas, so glad she survived. We still don't know which part of the country you hail from, but it must be harsher than our climate here in North Texas.
Thomas, if your brugs were stored where they didn't actually freeze, are you sure they're truly dead? Sometimes the trunks wither way back under less-than-optimum conditions, but the plants are still alive and sprout in spring, either from the lower trunk area or from the root zone. Don't be too quick to toss them! I had potted "dead" brugs coming back from the roots as late as July last year.

I think they are dead, the stems are hollow and the base of the plants are mushy.I will keep them until they show signs but if not Ill throw them out.
I am in zone5b indiana. Harsh winter here, got into the negetive digits for quite a few days.
I'm zone 5 in Connecticut, understand about cold winters, but my problem is keeping my brugs cool enough, I store in the basement but it tends to be around 55 to 60 degrees, so I have growth/ insect issues all winter. I try to keep them stripped of foilage because as soon as those pale ghost leaves show up the aphids show right up.
