Help!!

I need some help! My NOID pink was removed from hibernation about a month ago, and placed outside where it was last year. Apparently, and unfortunately, the pointer puppy grew up, and entertained himself this AM by jumping up and grabbing a branch. He ripped off the biggest leafy branch (about 10-12 " long, with 5-8 leaves on it, and broke/chewed on a couple of other branches that hadn't yet begin to grow leaves. Needless to say I am a) upset, and b)have moved the brug outside the yard, into a more sunny spot, but further away, so I can't enjoy the scent as closely.
My question: will my plant recover and bloom this year? Is it damaged beyond repair? It was more of a bush, with 3 large trunks that the new shoots and leaves would come out of. Should I feed it? Thanks so much for your help. [linked image]

Selma, your description sounds like the main trunks were not damaged...only some branches growing off those trunks, right? If so, I don't see why you won't get more branches. If there are undamaged branches remaining, they should go ahead and bloom. Otherwise, your blooms may be a bit delayed while you wait for new branches to develop.

I would not feed the brug because of the damage done...but rather, just because it's time you should be feeding it anyway.

Your pup has shown no ill effects from chewing on the brug? I thought most dogs would avoid chewing/eating brugs - sensing they are poisonous, or at least put off by the bad taste. Bad boy that he was, I hope he's doing fine.

Thanks Patrick, I feel a little better. Pup is a German Wirehair Pointer, they have cast iron stomachs, and he is showing no ill effects. Hubby is, of course, saying "I told you so". [linked image]

I disagree with Patrick. I would give it a dose of Full strength fertilizer when you normally would, at least that is what I would personally do. I would also dust the injured areas with sulphur dist to prevent any viruses from having an entry point.

I have had several cats & dogs who felt the need to taste Brug salads or use them as chew sticks (oh no, my cuttings!). I didn't notice any changes in any of them. I spray plants (& other things I don't want chewed on) with Bitter Apple or chew stop (available most everywhere). The plants were a different story & they have managed to kill off a few smaller plants. The bigger plants just grow back. Even if he chewed up the whole top, it should still be fine & re-sprout from the roots. It should grow out pretty fast because it still has a full-size root system to support the new growth. Can you salvage some of the stems for cuttings?
