Many Blooms

I have some catching up to do. I had computer troubles and when it was reformatted I lost the link to this forum. I emailed BobKY today to get it back.

Seems in the NE of the USA and the south of Ontario the cool moist spring and early summer made the Brugs feel like they were back home in their native environment. At this time all mine are flowering or will be in a day or 2.
I have really reduced my collection to just 10 Brugs, 3 are old favourites grown from seed, 2 in 2003 that I keep for their fragrance and bloom shape and position, a pink and white almost horizontal bloom, a huge white dependent bloom and the third was from 2006 and is a dependent pink bloom. The other 7 are:
Golden Lady, Maya, Axel Rose, French Canadian, Exotica, my NHE and one I registered this year called Shawnee's Legacy.

Those are truly gorgeous, Ruth Ann. The only one I have flushing like that is Isabella/Golfito and the blooms start drying within two days..... such a bad year for me. Maybe next season I will have a decent spring, and get to more normal blooms. I certainly hope so. Your brugs have always been so pretty.

just beautiful, we have similar gardens, veges lots of flowers and ponds all intermingled. Now with a few more years experience my brugs may start to look like yours.[linked image] Thanks for sharing them.

Thank you. This evening we had a terrible storm with tornado touchdowns within 30 miles and winds and rain, thunder and lightening like I have never witnessed before. Although I lost no blooms or branches ( they sit on the east side of the house so were a little protected), Iverexpect to see many tattered blooms tomorrow.
However, tonight my newly Registered 'Shawnee's Legacy' is in bloom......

Oh, how pretty and how I love pink. Way to go, Ruth Ann !!
We had storms this morning with some much needed rain, but no damaging wind or tornadoes. So glad you did not get damage.... I spent many hours this past spring cleaning up after damaging storms.

RA, I really enjoyed all your photos - a beautiful display from your brugs, as usual, and I love your pond. I have a big collection of rocks ready to be turned into a water feature, but the pond portion will be fairly small. Your combination of ornamental grasses and Axel Rose has sort of a dreamy, Garden of Eden quality...it's easy to overlook the pastel brugs in favor of brighter colors, but I think this was the ideal color - it's a really great combination.

Shawnee Legacy is fabulous! Congrats on that. I hope it eventually filters into the U.S. What is its parentage? The tendrils put me in mind of Miss Emily Mackenzie.

It was one of the 100 or so seeds Monika Gottschalk entrusted me with to grow out for her and was Rose Beauty X Charleston #6. Of all those seeds, this and one other we felt were worthy of registering, the other was a single pink Rothkirch X Balao seed that I have yet to register.
I still have 2 of my 2003 seedlings I am toying with registering but I may just leave them for my own pleasure now as I am really out of the Brugmansia 'loop' now and just 'enjoying' and 'sharing' when able.

Patrick, here is that Axel Rose today. We had the worst summer storm I have ever seen last night for an hour, it spawned tornados 40 mikes from me but all things considered, the Brugs did perfectly well, good thing they were all planted in the ground though. happy.gif

Beautiful brugs, Ruth Ann. Your weather has been good to your plants. I love the rest of the landscape, too. You must work all day in your flowers. I have very few brugs now and will just play with what I have and not get more. I enjoy watching the work of others, tho. Again, nice pictures and beautiful brugs.

Shirley, truth be told, I hardly garden any longer, my back just can't do it and allow me to get to work 3 days a week as well. Don does the planting and digging back up under my supervision. I too am out of the Brugmansia loop and doubt I will ever have any others than what I have now, I AM enjoying the ones I do have though. happy.gif
