summer questions

Hi all (Carrie and Bob, it seems!), We are finally having summer, (80 degree weather), and my original brug has buds in various stages of development. However, the rest of my brugs do not. I have had them for at least 2 years, some a bit longer, and no blooms. They all get fed periodically, and watered daily when it is so warm, and not raining. What more do I need to do?

Another question; perhaps related. They have all been repotted at least once, an upgrade. But when should they be repotted again? Should I do it as I bring them out of the basement in the spring? or wait, and do it when they go to bed for the winter, after I have pruned them back severely (so the spider mites don't get hold of them). Wish I had some suggestions for you;however, I'm struggling to get my brugs to bloom too.
Maybe we should try prayer next? happy.gif

Selma, I don't know how often periodically is, but if you want blooms, you must be consistent with the fertilizer. I fertilize at least twice each week, and often three times. They are heavy feeders and will reward you with blooms, but you have to work at it consistently. My problem this year has been with the strong winds............just blew two of my container ones over and broke many leaves and blooms off. They will bloom again, but I so wanted to see those.
As for the repotting, I find that you are pushing it to leave them the third year without repotting. They seem to get root bound easily. I would do this in the Spring when you bring them out of storage. I lost one that I repotted in the fall...............seems they do not like to have their roots trimmed and then go into storage.
Hope this helps a bit.

Great, thanks so much. I thought someone once posted to only feed once a week, so that is what I have been doing, but I can certainly up that to twice a week. And yes, I will try to repot in the spring. great help, thanks! [linked image]
